Hi i dont know who to contact so thought id ask her. Our neighbors have put a skip in their driveway, the skip is a very large one and its overloaded. The problem is they have massive cupboard panels and wood logs etc leaning against the skip and our car would be a casualty should strong winds decide it to blow it in our driveway, which is very likely with the winds today and they way the placed the items against the skip. We spoke to them and they just walked away. So who do i contact please.

cant you move them the other side of the skip yourself? or move your car?
#2
If the skip is overloaded the skip company will refuse to collect until the level is reduced.
If damage is caused to your property, your neighbours will be responsible.
It's the weekend, chill out. It's just not worth falling out with the neighbours

There is no space to move them. The only thing I can do is move them out of their driveway which would be fly tipping. And they have so much crap its not a 1 person job. Even if i move them they will just see it as space to put more stuff in its place. The skip has been there over 2 weeks, so I can move my car as its free parking today but it wont solve the problem come weekday.

Could you maybe contact the company that owns the skip? It's not there fault but they might be able to help in some way! Hard when people are that unreasonable!
#5
Council maybe if the skip company can't help?
#6
Just take plenty of pictures. So if anything does happen to your car (let's hope not), you have evidence to put against your neighbours. .

Best and most reasonable comment I've seen on here in a while. Sun's out football is back! Don't worry about it is what I say!

Just tell the council that there's domestic waste within the skip and you're concerned about rodents. Statutory Nuisance, they should serve notice to have them clear it.

If you explain to your council on Monday that is an issue of ant-social behaviour and/or public health - they will be out.
I guess your car is insured and you have insurance on your house, so in a worse case scenario you can always call upon those - maybe worthe checking now whether 1 or both provides legal cover. Talking of which you could talk to a solicitor - only you can judge whether the issue warrants that and taking costs into account.
If either of you rent your property then a quiet word with agent/landlord may help.

just chill out nothing has happened. if it does then post on here. better to enjoy the day than getting annoyed and peeking out window. if we all complained about things that might happen it would be nightmare. why don't you offer them a cuppa if working hard and being productive, you don't know what bad neighbours are

Move your car then sneak out after dark and set light to the rubbish in the skip. ;)

Funnily enough a few people have been having trouble with workmen renovating a house here and this morning the skip was on fire oO

You sound like a lovely neighbour, I'm glad you're not next door to me.

Maybe you should be next to each other in that case. keep the rubbish to one side.

Skip companies do not allow you to burn rubbish in their skips so give them a ring and tell them their skip is on fire.

Are you sure you're not just being a little petty?

Someone must have set fire to it,the first we knew was when the Fire Brigade turned up to put it out.

Had the same problem, then heard a bang and a metal table hit my car door and dented it badly. Phoned the skip company who turned up instantly, took the skip away but said they were not responsible for skips being overloaded. Neighbours apologised but had no house insurance. Contracted police (non emergency line) they said it was a civil matter. Ended up having to claim off my car insurance. Move the car off the drive and phone skip company say stuff has been blown on to road and will cause an accident and that you have informed the police, that should solve the problem.

Passed one on next street this morning someone had set fire to the skip had spread to their car and the neighbours car and melted the houses double glazing frames. I personally would move your car for a couple of days

Why not just lay the upright items down on the driveway then they won't get blown against the car?

They put it up again as it falls flat and blocks the path.

im going to keep doing it until they give up.

dont know why people are being so harsh against the OP. similar thing happened to my car when my neighbours shed collapsed and threw felt all over my car.

only option was to claim on my own insurance, losing no claims etc.

avoiding is better than curing if it happens so politely ask your neighbour to re-arrange the debris so it is not a risk to your vehicle. it is somewhat childish to try and ring anyone to come and do your dirty work for you.

it's their property at the end of the day

They will also need another skip for the rubbish that is left over.

Print an A3 picture of Deek, explain that this is the local skip monster who comes and plays in overflowing skips, it will be sorted within the hour!
