Hi,

I'm going to do exactly the same thing today.

Firstly, go to http://www.saynoto0870.com to get the freephone number to call Sky on!

Secondly, threaten to cancel!! I'm looking for them to offer me Sky+ for £49 with free installation, instead of the usual £99 + £60 install. Use this as a benchmark, and see how you get on...

Good luck, please post back with how you get on. I'll do the same.

HTH,
Steve

#4
Yeah im in the same boat, new house and want Sky installed at a nice price :)
#5
i know this worked when sky were doing sky plus for £49 for new customers but not sure if that is on anymore
#6
apparently you can get sky plus free if you recommend a friend i thought you just got £30 vouchers oh well you also get £10 off if you order online
#7
They offered me that deal the other month. Sky+ for £49 installed

I declined - sky is $hite at the minute, havent missed a thing on it. I've got my 90cm dish in the garden hooked upto my Technomate reciever, so I get every single premiership match for free anyways, so I'm happy :)

we are having problems with our sky box freezing up, so I phoned up yesterday and spoke to technical which kind of helped the problem (but the problem was still there), so I rang back-and explained the problem, she said 'I can send out an engineer to try and fix it for £65 or i can offer you sky+ at £49'
we went for the latter!!!no mention of the £10 a month charge that I have heard of though

I got £49 too, install next Tuesday. You do have to persevere a bit though, til they offer you the £49.

The freephone number works fine, just to confirm it's 0800 0512595

If you already have sky and wish to upgrade to a sky plus box ask them about re-conditioned boxes.

I got mine for £49 reconditioned when I first got upgraded to sky+ and you get the same 12 month warranty as with a new box

Mine was fine for 14 months then I sold it on ebay for £129 as I moved address and it was as cheap to get a new box with a new installation

Anyone here took up the Sky Broadband or is it better keeping TV/Internet providers seperate?
#22
i noticed that on Virgin Media they have a V+ box (same as sky+ box) but you can record 2 diff channels and watch a 3rd programme! Better than Sky
#23
oh well its being installed monday for £49

What did you say to them at cancellations to get it for £49? Were you a customer from before with Sky?
#25
Horace,

Are you an existing customer with sky? If so, ring up to cancel (look for the 0800 number elsewhere in this post). You'll get put through to someone who is tasked with not letting you cancel!

Firstly, you need to be able to pretend that you want to actually cancel. I would suggest going for:-
"I don't get enough value of out my current sky service. I asked for a skyplus quote and I was quoted £159 including install. This is far more than I expected to pay, so I'd like to give notice of my intention to cancel."
That should work fine for you, it's more or less the lines I used.
