Hi,

My Sky contract was coming to an end, and I was going to do the standard cancel my account then open up in someone else's trick.

However this time when I called, the lady on the phone was adamant that Sky have clamped down on this and would block any attempt to open a new account for 12 month.

Now I know they used to say this the whole time before so I've almost striked it off as pish, but was curious if anyone had any further information on this?

Thanks

Be surprised if they turned down business, but I imagine if caught you might lose the new customer bonuses. In the past I have great success negotiating a good deal to remain with Sky. My last one meant a reduction in my monthlys and an upgrade to SkyQ

I did the same, I phoned to cancel but managed to get 50% off my whole bill for 12 months instead.

Told me the same, moved it to my wife as a new customer, I was blatant about it, and nothing was done and received all promotions and quidco.

I just did this 2weeks ago. Engineer fitted my sky q yesterday and today I claimed my free tv. What I did was just call up, say partner split up so want to set up in own name. The bloke even asked if my missus was with me to put her through cancellations. They tried hard not to cancel mind.... the old where are you living now, does it have sky blah blah blah. It does work.

I canceled and got offered 60% off 3 days into 30 day notice period.

Call her bluff, cancel.
They do ring back with a good offer, but if they don't you have saved loads of money.

They have no way or the resources to check, doubt anyone in the sales depth will care as its a sale on their figures

Used a Fake name, different email address and different mobile number (PAYG sim) and paid on my credit card (Under my name). No issues. Have 3 sky HD boxes and Modems in the loft because they refuse to give me the same discounts as new customers.....must cost them more every year.

Dont forget guys, if you sign up to sky q, all of the equipment like the box will be on lease. So if you cancel in the future, you will have to return the box.
