£120 from sky, not really worth it though as you may as well go on their cheapest package for 12 months

I second that especially if you go through quidco for £110 cashback, it makes it around £94 for the first year with 2 mixes, or is there a connection fee too?

£30 connection fee so thats £124 for the year with two mixes but you can have one mix for £16 a month then each of the other mixes are £1 each per month!

£35 connection fee

No connection/setup cost is £30: http://www.sky.com/portal/site/skycom/skyproducts/skytv/pricesandpackages
Ive been trying to decide what mixes to get for myself, but thanks id forgot about the £5 credit you get for signing up online! £5 seems tight of them though at the side of the £110 they give via quidco!

as ck2 said.

£40 Sky Digibox with power cable and remote and ftv viewing card

Your lnb feed should be working ok, small chance the cable is damaged and/or the dish not aligned anymore, and you're up and running on http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/satellite/freesatepg/:)

hmm im in manchester!

Clearly, if you don't have Sky already - you would want to get installation of the Dish, cables and all of that?

In that case I would say you should subcribe to Sky for 12 months as suggested.

For 1 MIX = £16

16 x 12 = 192 + 30 install = 222

222 - 110 quidco - £5 credit = 107

And you could get free broadband aswell if its in ur area etc...

for £107 less the hassle and more telly too....
#14
what if I have got the dish and cables but not the box?
#15
just hook up the box to the cable, with a FTV viewing card and you're away.
#16
but i need the box.
i am still thinking if i should just pay £40-50 for a box in eaby, or subscript through quidco for £107 a year.
#17
does the £107 include sky one??
#18
hmmm £107?

New Sky Install (must have access to a phone line or its £25 extra charge):

quidco = £110
2mixes @ £17/month = £204

= £94 for the 1st year...

vs.

£30-£40 for a used Sky Digibox and FTV card which it should come with.

So £60ish (£5/month) more for proper install to check all is ok and for 2 mixes of channels...

The choice is yours :)

The reason I asked is I have a spare silver (can't remember the make) digi box with control but I am in Lancashire/North Yorkshire border.

Right the box is a Panasonic but don't know where to find the model. It does have any lead thingys with it as the Sky man used them to connect my Sky+ box. Picture to follow

I have a couple of Sky boxes (I'm certain that they are both PACE boxes). I can post pictures after work tomorrow, if you are interested.

Would be looking for about £20 (+ £6.99 for delivery via courier) for either.

A picture of both boxes is below.

The bottom one is in fantastic condition, and was used for about four months before we upgraded to Sky+.

The top box belonged to the in-laws, and was used for about 12 months (they cancelled Sky as soon as their contract expired). It does have a few light marks on the top of the case (that can only be seen when the light hits it at certain angles), but other than that it's fine.

Sky also charge £20 for viewing cards, but if you are interested in either of the boxes, I can let you have the in-laws old one for £10 - I believe it takes up to 72 hours for the card to 'pair up' with the box (also I don't think you have to phone Sky to pair the card when it's only used for freesat)

I've got the figure of eight leads and scart leads for the boxes, but don't have a remote control (but these can be picked up cheaply from eBay, or you can use a multifunction one).
