Been looking for a deal myself..

Going to cancel mine soon if there is no half decent deal for existing customers. My mate is an installer for sky and keeps offering amazing deals for new customers or to those upgrading to sky HD but seems once they gave you then tough.

i got half price for 6 months on my existing subscription with no tie in. i'm just on sky+ so got it lowered from £40 to £20. Intend to ring again after 6 months to haggle again. Just tell them you want to cancel because you can't afford it anymore

Switch to Virgin? They have a few good deals going on at the moment, and if you're a broadband-a-holic like me it's very tempting.

:DI called up to cancel my sky package, and they offered me 1/2 price for 6 months. They also sent me a card through recently for the HD channels, free for the first 6 months when you take out a 12 month contract for HD. So for 6 months I'm getting all of that for £9.50. Pretty pleased. They want to keep you as a customer so see what they'll do. From what I've heard, it depends on who you get when you call. Friends have called up to cancel before (to try and get them to drop the price) and the representative has just said "ok then". :D

IIRC, all but the 100MB package have heavy download limits.
I believe Virgin have recently or will be changing the terms of the 50MB package to limit the upload speed.

Who knows when they'll decide to limit the download speed on the 50MB package...

Link to their 'Traffic Management' terms: Traffic Management

That's why I'd avoid Virgin Broadband.

O2 are the best imo.
I downloaded just under 650GB last month & they don't seem to mind at all.
10GBP/month & they have call centers in the UK with v.good customer service levels.

Sky is probably one of the worst imo. Call centers abroad, usage caps on all but the top package, expensive to contact them for help.

If I was you I'd keep a eye on your bills, I was offered this deal and reason given for them offering me this was that I only needed a veiwing card as I had everything else all in place box and dish. When I noticed that I was getting charged full price I rang customer service and was told they've never had this offer.
Just a heads up

Last xmas I got a phone call offering movies and sport for half price for 3 months.
Took up the offer, then noticed they where charging me full price.
Rang them up and they said yes an error was made and the 'offer' was not applied, ok I said, lets sort it now then (one month into 3 month offer) Was told they couldn't because the offer wasnt on anymore, so had to pay full price or cancel, I cancelled.
I hate Sky and would NEVER use them again

I switched to Virgin - got two Virgin HD boxes, multi room subscription, 20mb b-band, unlimited land line calls, sky sports and movies with xl tv package - base cost of £65 a month for 12 months which is pretty good in my opinion

I used to work at the Sky Customer Service centre. Not sure if this will work but call and say you have moved house and new house had dish so you have already moved and everything is working and you want to just change address. Use a friend or relatives address.. Then call back a few days later to cancel and don't take any turn around offer.

This means you are no longer on their database as living at your current address so can reapply for a new customer offer.

This may not work as I last worked there over 10 years ago but it was a new system for digital so it may still be the same system.

In my experience threaten to leave, that when they offer you the best deals.
