Hi,

I currently have sky with the sports package (been with them forever). But im now looking to either get sky plus or sky hd with multiroom. But looking on sky's website it seems quite pricey...£100 for the box plus installation...anyone know the best way to get either sky plus or hd at a good price???

Hi, i phoned sky to cancel because my box was on its way out, they said because i had been with them for so many years i was entitled to a loyalty discount and got sky+ for £49 installed plus got a letter through the door a few days later for half price movies for 2 months. Hope that helps.

If you are a loyal customer that subscribes to all packages, you are more likely to find Rocking Horse Sh!t than get a deal from Sky!!!!!

You can go down the route of threatening to cancel, but they have wised up to that now, and any deals offered and not that great!!!

Good Luck.

Makes me laugh how they'll give anything away for next to nothing to new customers, but the guys who have been paying through the nose for years to allow Sky to be able to offer such deals have to fight and threaten to cancel to get anything...

I have an interesting Sky-related problem, which is that I lose all channels in heavy rain. So, when I woke up this morning to find the rain coming down in torrents, I lost access to all Sky channels, leaving me with the usual 5 waste of time channels.

Problem is that if I were to report this to Sky, I imagine they would either try to sell me a new box or dish at enormous expense, send an engineer out to move the dish (at enormous expense) or offer me Sky+ (at enormous expense compared to if I were a brand new customer).

So I grit my teeth and decide that whenever it rains, I should try and watch a DVD instead...I can't even threaten to cancel as I took out their broadband service earlier this year, which ties me into another 12 month contract...grrrr

Anyone else with this problem?

Yeah it p***** me off as well that they have all these deals for new customers but for existing customers they just dont want to know. I will try to phone up and threaten to cancel and see what they say. Hopefully that will work.

In regards to the issue about losing channels when it rains. I have a similar issue but some channels just lock up. Its weird because some channels will work and others will just freeze.

Do you know how long it will take them install sky + if the deal is agreed?

If there is a thunder storm coming or just really heavy rain I lose the Sky channels.Don't think any amount of moving the dish is going make a difference,if its going rain you going get it wet unless you start building something over it and in front etc to shelter it! Then it probably won't work either incasing it in.
Don't get me started about Sky,I think its a waste of money,my partner the 1 who wants it,I could just read up online what series and films I want to watch either download them or buy a dvd box set when it comes out be cheaper by miles doing that than Sky subscription,we pay £55 approx a mth, totally down to my partner. We started at about £20 a mth and it just went up and up as he added more, then he wanted HD that puts it up £10 extra.Me I can't see this difference in HD,between Sky One and Sky One HD and whatever else is in HD,I can't see the difference in my tv at all,I preffered my old tv,never wanted a new tv in 1st place but my partner sure likes to waste cash as I see it.

I was speaking to a Sky representative the other day (arguing actually) but he insisted that if you are offered Sky+ for £49 it will be a recondition 3 month warranty box not a new one? I swore at him so I obviously cannot verify this

Got a new sky+ PVR3 for my ma the other day. Spent 1 HOUR on the phone, even shown him this site and a few threads lol.
Eventually, had to pay the £49 for sky+ BUT got a £30 discount against my ma's account, free install and stuff.
Bear in mind however, we were on repair call #3.
Had the box fail and an LNB replacement - 45 days #2
Had the box replaced for a refurb which i wasn't impressed at.

Said, why are we paying £38/month for a service that we are not getting. Like i say, took a while but in the end worth it.

BTW, didn't ring the costly 0870 number, but 01506 831 781. Do not enter any details and the automated system eventually puts you through to the Scotland call centre :)
Good luck

Ah, sky. Never liked em, VM are better in my opinion.

If i was ever to go with Sky, it would only be because they have Sky One..

Think VM might be getting Sky One back soon anyway.

Anyway, i'm going a bit off topic here.. Lol.
