Sky Hd for existing customers

I am just trying to find out how far I can push Sky for upgrading from Sky+ to HD, at the moment they are only offering it to me for £199 +£60 install, not fully threatened them with cancellation yet, but told them that Virgin have offered me a free V+ box. Made no difference.
So anyone out there just got a good HD box deal? If so could you tell me how you landed it.

Cheers

Seems to be luck of the draw with sky regarding deals but you do need to get put through to retentions first before you will get anywhere.

Best way to get a deal is going through to cancellations.

Best you will get is £99 for the box (not sure about free installation) dont forget you will also have to pay £10 a month for HD services, for a minimum of 12 months.

agreed, virgin telephoned me and asked me to come back to them I already have phone with them they offered me 1p a month forever but £30 to connect box, told them Iwas quite happy with sky they then suggested that I keep sky but in another room they would put the virgin box for just £30 installation and 1p for life or £1 for all chanells including movies, so I rang sky told them i was cutting back and needed one of their boxes taken out (i have 3) they said keep the box in and we will give it to you for half price £5 instead of £10 so I have done that for now, rang virgin and put them off for 3 months. Handy if you have a problem with your sky box to have another service so I will probably take them up on the offer when the sky 3 month discount expires, but it does work to go to retentions, you can always change you mind later. Good luck

As others have said, it all depends on who you speak to. You wont get offered anything by CS - so the only way is to say you want to cancel and get put through to the cancellation department (AKA retentions) and hope they offer you a better deal.

I had no joy for my Dad in January - so he's now an ex $ky customer. Their loss. He was paying £45 and hardly watching it. He was after a $ky+ box - and they said "we dont have any deals". Even told them the Virgin patter - but they were happy just to let him go.

Just see mentioned on here freesat.co.uk starting very soon, free for ever and free HD.

This surely has to be the best bargaining tool when dealing with sky from now on?

I've just threatened Sky with a cancellation, after 6 years TV, broadband and telephone for the past year they wouldn't budge on £160 to install and supply sky + !! My switch off date is the 20th, I'm hoping they call back and offer me a better deal before then cos I havent found any suitable alternatives for my 3 services yet!!

Sky are now wise to people who threaten to cancel, tried it got nothing, the only way round it is to cancel then get your wife or partner to sign up as a new customer to get the best deals like the current one from comet sky hd for £99 plus install

Thats what i did last Thursday, got nowhere trying to get them to make a decent offer. The guy even checked the comet website as he knew nothing about the Comet Easter £99 offer and after seeing it he said he couldnt match anywhere near it.

Cancelled there and then and went straight off to comet to order the HD and the installer is coming tomorrow.

I am not complaining though as i have just had 12 months of 1/2 price sky from the offer they ran last year.
