Slimline Dishwasher, cheapest available needed urgently - help!

My 18 month old Indesit dishwasher has just gone wonky. The first two lights are flashing and it won't work. I phoned them up and its £130 to have someone come and repair it, or £169 for a repair and further 12 month guarantee. Im so annoyed, as it looks brand new, it's been VERY gently used, there is no flippin reason for it to go wonky.

Anyway, I can't afford those scandalous repair prices. I got the dishwasher after saving and getting birthday money, and got it cheap with a code, for £125. Does anyone know of a cheap slimline dishwasher anywhere, preferably one I can pay up! I'm going to have to send back my Christmas gift now and put the money towards this. Sorry for whining, just very fed up!

Any help gratefully appreciated, and rep given.

I would contact the retailer that you bought it from as 18 months of use for a dishwasher is not on and therefore "not fit for purpose". If you have any bother with them then go to trading standards.

I agree with that. I did say that to the girl on the service line and she said that is the guarantee.

Totally spinning you a line - go to trading standards - they will back you up.

Hi Agree with the other posts these things should last for a considerable more time than yours, but one thing that you might try

The problem of a flashing LED's is usually caused by "Lack of Flow" that generally means that either it is blocked internally or the waste is blocked

If you need a new one try either Redhill Appliances or Jual domestics. Iv'e purchased from both and i highly recommend them

Thanks everyone for your help!

I phoned Consumer Direct first, (they are the Consumers part of Trading Standards), was told that under the Sale of Goods act, I can raise a complaint with the RETAILER, up to five years after purchase, in Scotland. I phoned Littlewoods who Id bought it from, and of course got all the usual "Its outwith guarantee, contact Indesit" stuff. I stuck to my guns though and quoted the Sale of Goods act, said Trading Standards told me my rights, and eventually got put through to someone else. Went throught it all with him, he had me hold on for a couple of mins, then came back and said to get Indesit to do the repair and they will reimburse the cost. I asked for a letter of confirmation of this fact, which he said he will send out. I'll then go ahead with the repair.

Hooray!

I bought an indesit slim dishwasher 14 months ago and had a similar problem after 9 months, they came out and fixed it, but the engineer said he wasn't sure wot the problem was and good luck with it not happening again he also seemed to spend more time trying to sell me cleaning products and further insurance for when my 1 year gaurantee ran out:x i gave up using it, as my cutlery was becoming rusted and the whole thing just became a hassle..wish i'd never bought it in the first place:cry:

Wow what a hassle. No rusty cutlery here, but it certainly could dry stuff better than it does!
