So we are looking for an engagement ring, anyone know where is best to buy from? Anywhere to avoid for what ever reason? Should we go to a well know shop or a private one or even argos etc?

Thanks xx

Congratulations! Great News. :)

I don't know if this helps but I ended up getting my engagement ring from H Samuel. I got a voucher when we got the engagement ring for 10% of wedding rings for my husband and I which we used a year and a half later. We also get 10% discount now whenever we use HSamuel to get our rings cleaned also. All the best & Congrats again

Awww thanks :D
He got me a ring but it was too small :( Plus it was only for me to open until we picked a nice one.

Awww congrats too you too then Jellybaby... i read your post bossyboots the other day but didn't have time to comment. lol...

We have been into a jewellers today but wasn't sure how it compared etc. Seems as though the same one is £600 cheaper in argos? Will have a look round a few more i guess.

Argos engagement ring! lol

It's a good way to get it called off if you change your mind though! "I got you a ring", "it's from Argos, you dam cheapskate, the weddings off!"! You get out of it and not spend a fortune to boot!

On the other foot, if you buy one from Argos and she loves it, shes skanky and not wife material. But don't delete her number as she'll be good for a fling when your board of married life!:-D

Trying to find a sideboard!!!! Our wedding was very secret! Only our parents and my wee boy there, but we had a big party last night and told everyone. Whole house is getting done up at the moment and getting everything we need online in the sales as no way am I hitting them shops!

How about a holiday and get a ring at the same time. Many people go to New York for the exchange rate and better prices. But as its HUKD and we like a bargain, value destination...................Sierra Leone, a weeks holiday, a big diamond and a AK47 and you'll still have change out of £1k.

congratulations
don't got to claybrooks as that's where we got my engagement ring from & asked for it to be made in white gold instead of the yellow gold that they had instore & paid extra for this to be done. we took it back twice because the clasps weren't tight on the diamond & they refused to do this the second time even though i had only worn it for one day :x we ended up taking it to hsamuel to be repaired but the setting they put the diamond in was higher than the one we wanted so was a bit dissapointed & we found out afterwards from a couple of jewellers in london that the diamond wasn't the quality that we'd paid for either :x
i'm hoping for a new one next year for out 10th anniversary :whistling:

well I'm glad to see everyone automatically knocking argos jewellery and all those who shop there! Both my engagement ring and wedding ring came from there, I don't see my husband as cheap, and I certainly don't see myself as a skanky chav!! I'd rather use the money we saved for our children, particularly the private intensive physiotherapy we pay for for our son!

Congratulations.

We got my engagement ring and our wedding rings from Ernest Jones.
They did alterations for free and have high quality diamonds.
Plus unusual designs ...
Enjoy

Don't worry about the costs , if your a rich man than buy expensive if your not so rich then buy cheaper but it will matter on what you can afford reasonably nothing else should matter imo.

what about taking a day trip to the jewellery quarter and pick up a ring from there, may find something which is different for the right price. only a thought.
#25
Congrats to you both !!!
#26
Beaverbrooks & Goldsmiths......the former usually have some very good half price deals at sale time. I got a beautiful ring with some money left to me by an elderly uncle from there 18 months ago and it's as beautiful today as the day I bought it. Would never ever have spent what I spent on it ordinarily BUT I wanted something special, that would remind me of him every time I looked at it and even now I refer to it as "Uncle Robert's ring"

Oh and congrats to you both!

thanks have both those stores around here will have a look xxx

I was going to suggest the jewellery quarter. It is in Birmingham and is a huge area with loads of jewellery shops. The quality is fantastic and the price is excellent. It is where I always go for any jewellery but I do only live a few miles away.
