Am I sure I am not alone on this (I hope)

Can anyone recommend some software for sorting all my photos on my pc into date order so I can delete duplicates as I have way too many not enough time (not smart enough) and really wouldnt like to lose any.

Windows gives you the option to sort files by date order. Just go into "detail" view.

For pictures two dates are often shown, the date the photo was taken, and the date the file was updated (if you editied it etc).

I would sort the fies by date, then create a folder for each "date" and copy the files for each date in the appropriate folder.

I would create a top level folder for each year (2008, 2009, 2010 etc), then within them a folder for each month "01 Jan", "02 Feb" etc.,
then a folder for any day you took pictures.

It may take a while but eventually all your pictures will be sorted into one folder for each date.

Once you have done that then back them up to a couple of CDs or DVDs.

Sorting out your digital photos does take time, but it is worth it in the long run, like when you want to find the holiday pictures you took in July 2008 for example.
