Anyone know where eBay stand on things like this? It's my first time with anything like this, never had a customer claim SD hasn't turned up before. I know the address was correct etc, but I'd imagine that they're going to try for "item not received".

Thanks.

Good to know. They waited a week before even mentioning it. my suspicion is they were waiting until I'd binned the receipt or something. either that or building up their courage.

i had a parcel sent to me but it didnt arrive and was signed by someone else, this was bought from a retailer. so not always its lies. however paypal will take your side so d.w. All it takes for the postman or delivery person to go to the wrong door which im sure people have had some experience of at some point.

If you haven't already done it, make sure you put the RM tracking number into your ebay account (sold items) so that ebay can see its been sent and delivered.

That's true I suppose, but I'd imagine that they've checked with neighbours etc That what I'll tell them to do. on the same token though, it wouldn't be hard to scribble a different name into the box on thier doorstep and claim it's another person...

Yeah, did that straight away.

I've had a similar issue before except I was the buyer and returned it to the seller. They said they hadn't received it even though it had been signed for. I was told it then becomes a dispute between them and royal mail. As long as you have the receipt you have done everything from your side of things

Special delivery comes with insurance so claim your money back for the item lost in post and refund buyer. Still got your money. Also isn't special delivery next day so you really need buyer to act quicker. I have given up with signed for, 1 signature can be taken covering many items. Passports sent from example. 1000s of passports at office signed for with just 1 signature. What's the point. But special delivery is different as comes with insurance. Sellers responsibility for items to be delivered though but you do have cover..

Not if it's been delivered. The item has been signed for, they're claiming that it isn't them who've signed for it. If it were a case of it going missing lock stock then I would refund them and claim.

Most of these deliveries now when signed for come with GPS coordinates as a back up.

Contact royal mail. I thought special delivery can only be delivered to the address of the package. It can't be left with a neighbour or different address even if you leave a note on door. I thought there was some GPS and a camera in van cabs plus the pick up office if used has a camera. There may be proof? I'll find out as a mate of mine is a postman. I would like to know what happens and what proof there is on special delivery

+1 to that! just ask royal mail to show you the GPS co-ordinates of the place of delivery (you will have to log a claim or get through to the customer services). I have done this with items I ordered that were sent to the wrong address.

Your item has been stolen. Maybe by a postman. It happens. Signature was just to cover tracks. You have no idea if it was delivered or not. What proof do you have. None! Royal mail may already know about it and have other stuff taken along with your stuff to. It happens on special delivery items. Some of the stuff is high value so royal mail take it seriously. You really need to get on the phone tomorrow and sort it out.

What are you talking about. I have a signature. and a confirmation of delivery. Is this what you postman mate has said??

Get them to open dispute. Then either call ebay to explain what has happened &/or respond via the console with the tracking number & upload the tracking receipt. You are protected via Seller Protection when you have sent the item via tracked & signed for delivery to their PayPal address. I know it seems stressful because your customer is making it so but don't stress, you have done the right thing & are covered. Also if you want to take it the extra mile, get a complaints form from the PO & send it in. It is possible that your customer is getting someone else to sign for their items & then claiming they have not been delivered or that their neighbour is signing for their stuff & not handing it over... who knows. Check their feedback & their feedback left for others, it is a good indication of possible problems with prior transactions.

Good advice.

They're pretty low feedback, only got 19. Obviously, the simplest explanation is that they've had someone else sign and are having me on. I'm going to sit tight, they said they called RM and they're investigating...

The fact that they knew it'd been "delivered" and then didn't notify me of a problem for over a week has my alarm bells ringing...

In UK law (via precedent) if you have a RM tracking number, you have proof of postage. that means you automatically have proof of receipt regardless of the package being signed for.

That makes no sense whatsoever

this happened to me a couple years but outwith the uk.

sent a phone to argentina.
seller filed a claim saying not received.
item was sent international signed for.

i could only see a signature but somehow paypal could see beyond that.

in the end they confirmed the buyer got it.

later that day the case changed from item not received to not as described.

i called paypal again and told them i would takw it back and refund less postage if they could tell the seller to send it back.

he never did.
case expired

i never now send a parcel via rm outside of europe. couriers are good for that

basically international signed for only signs till its out the country but your covered for loss.

paypal are not stupid. log everything from that address so can see names etc. the base claima on that.

i would keep a zerod paypal account if i were you and also be proactive rather than reactive

however is a basic tenet of UK law and has been for decades, proof of postage via royal mail is automatically deemed to be proof of delivery by the courts

I was caught on international signed for many years ago. Used to be the cover was only while the package was in the UK. Completely useless service.

Ebay carry International stuff themselves now. Signed for and everything, the expense seems to put off buyers though.

tbh half my buyers use ebay distance selling. only thing i hate is tge slow postage.

mind you ebay recently lost a parcel to israel.

the guy wqnts the stuff and ebay lost it. they will refund buyer and leave me alone but means i need to resend to israel as ebay messed up.

might use royal mail int signed for or a cheap courier
