I need to arrange a stag weekend.

Preferably a golfing weekend with hotel on site.

Preferably somewhere with a lively town centre not too far away.

Anybody got any ideas?

I've been to stag weekends in Newcastle, Sheffield, Rome, Prague and Barcelona.

Newcastle was amazing and I would definitely recommend it. I'm from the south east so it was a bit of a journey by car but well worth it.

Are you thinking of going abroad or staying in this country?

ryanair are doing cheap flights :)

How about De-Vere's in Blackpool? They have hotel, golf and nearby town centre with the famous tower lounge to cater for stags (and hens).

I'm from Newcastle, but all my mates in the Army used to love coming up this way. Never played golf in my life but these sites may help:

North Tyneside Golf Clubs
Newcastle United Gold Club
Gosforth Golf Club

All are easily in range of the city centre/Big Marker or Quayside

Dundee. Stop laughing. I'm serious.

* Two Open venue courses (Carnoustie and St Andrews) within 15 miles, with countless cheaper options all within easy reach if you don't want to lord it up too much.

* Two universities, and various colleges, so plenty of gorgeous students. Some of the locals even scrub up quite well!

* Great nightlife. Loads of pubs, many independently run. Two very good nightclubs. People very friendly.

* Great choice of hotels --- from cheap and cheerful upwards.

Hell, I have an MPV and will even be your personal taxi driver/guide if you pay me enough!

De Vere's is a great idea, but the Tower Lounge?I would not recommend that to anyone, believe me I live in Blackpool and love the place but the Tower Lounge is somewhere to avoid imho.

However there is a great night to be had as long as you avoid certain places.

Been to Blackpool before and had a good time.

Although the night life is a priority the golf courses and hotel have to be good too.

The groom is very fussy about he's golf.

Was maybe looking at somewhere in europe but honestly dont know where to start and am running out of time.

You could try Celtic Manor Resort at Newport. A 5* hotel complex with a couple of courses - the Ryder Cup is being held there in 2010 and they hold a number of pro-celeb events. Cardiff is only 20-30 minutes down the road and is a cracking night out.

Celtic Manor is gorgeous.
According where you live - you could get a cheap flight into Cardiff or Bristol.
