- MSDN Academic Alliance

Not sure it gives you access to download all the applications of Microsoft Office though (Word, Excel for instance), it didn't last time I looked. It is being very slow at the moment so I cannot look. May be it depends if you are a student or an academic member of staff though??

Finally managed to login:

No version of Word or Excel appears to be available on MSDN Academic Alliance, the only Office type apps I could see where Outlook, Access, Visio, Project, OneNote, InfoPath, MapPoint, development tools, and some OSs (XP Pro, and Vista Business, etc).

i have a download link but then that would be wrong of me to post it in here because that sort of behaviour would eat at Mr Gates' profits, and we wouldn't want to be upsetting him now would we

I get the same thing from my uni, got Vista but can't install it due to incompatible drivers lol.

I'm not sure if Office is availble on MSDNAA (you can try search for your school by following the link) but all other microsoft products are on there to download.
