Hi

We are looking to upgrade my dads old Samsung Tablet for him as its years old and as slow as a drunk snail now.

Unfortunately our budget isn't huge so I am wondering if anyone can advise of something in that price range that would do him?

He basically reads his newspaper sibscription online, surfs the net (NO GAMING), reads his emails, and when out of home/travelling he wants to watch TV on it and ideally be able to connect it to a TV by a USB as I have him on my SKYGO plan.
He is in his 70's and not very tech savvy so the easier to use the better.
Thanks in advance for any advice and recommendations.

Dea.

worth checking out refurbished items at that price - my current Samsung tablet is a cheap refurb from Argos on eBay.

Thanks, I was thinking maybe we would have to go down that route, do most android tablets connect to TV's now?

if the tablet(out) and TV(in) has HDMI connectors then connection should be OK. Also you may be able to use a chromecast device.

Oh I didn't realise you can't connect SKY GO to your TV via a tablet etc, you learn something new every day, LOL, thanks for that!

Yep its a pain , tried direct connection and chromecast but sky have blocked it as its a cheap way to get multi-room, there may be ways to get round it but too technical for me , I get round it by using nowtv , loads of offers about most of the time, on movies for a fiver for three months, sports day passes with carling lager and a free entertainment at the moment.... that does work plugged into the tv via HDMI, watching the manchester derby at the moment.....

Slightly over budget but probably the highest spec new tablet at this price. It also has HDMI. It's aimed at gamers but just ignore that, it's the spec you are after. Ideal for watching telly on with twin speakers and great display. http://www.trustedreviews.com/nvidia-shield-tablet-k1-review:)
