Has anyone who's a 'current' customer of Talk Talk managed to haggle anything of their new "Fixed Price" deals? Or maybe you are a legacy customer and got a better deal staying off of the fixed plans? I was just wondering whether they play ball with long-term existing customers or are they steadfast in not being able to change them?

Oh, and before anyone chimes in about how bad they are, I have been with them for many years (and Tiscali before that) and I've never had any major grumbles. Ok, so I might be in the minority but - better the devil you know, as they say. I mean no disrespect to anyone but I've heard all the stories and tales a million times over so I wish to save people's time by mentioning I won't be swayed by hearing how terrible they are.

Any tales of battling with their call-centre oppo's would be greatly appreciated before I wade in and try my luck. I seem to have a fight every year and most of the time get a deal I'm happy with. This year though, I fear it might be more of an uphill struggle than usual. Who knows? I might just jump ship instead!

Cheers, Phsy.

Their service isn't worth any price, just do whatever you can to escape the company and find a service that is consistent.

I renewed middle of last year and got the same deal - free (non-fiber) broadband and just pay line rental. I also have had no major problems with TalkTalk....

Did it last year when they first introduced their Fixed plan. Got an 18 month contract with 80/20 mbps plan+free call boost for £28.75 per month. No problems either with the connection either with fttc or Standard.

I did it using the online chat. Saved £10/month over what I was paying at the time.

*fibre. We're not American.

Find the best deal somewhere else, ask them to better it being that you should be a valued customer. If they claim they can't leave and go elsewhere, loyalty doesn't count for anything now.

By going somewhere else you can take advantage of new customer offers, which will make the best offer even better.

Hi Phsy, I'm also a TT customer since a few years back and had no issues (yet). My BB came up for renewal in Nov last year so I haggled to get upgraded to Fibre for £25/month + £25 one-off for the box. Since then it's been very fast and reliable - touch wood.

I'm a long time talktalk customer and have just signed up to bt broadband as they were going to charge me much more. I was on free unlimited bb and anytime calls which was free for the first 6 months and £7.50 for the last 6 months. Plus line rental got the year.

The best they offered was around £22 I think and they weren't budging so I've signed up elsewhere and if tcb pays out £100 and I get the £100 prepaid mastercard I'm going to get unlimited bb with weekend calls for £8.15 a month which I think is a great deal.

like yourself I haven't had any major issues with talktalk and an kind of annoyed I'm having to leave but hey ho that's life. good luck with your renewal.

We got a really good deal (Line rental, calls, fibre) for £15.50 but the following year they wouldn't budge at all and wanted to charge close to 3x that, in the end we left and went to BT as at the time they were half price I think and £150 cashback.

They are really hard to haggle with on these fixed price packages.

I Have a call boost on my account which i got half price for 12 months.

I managed to get a recordable youview box off them instead of a standard box for the price of the standard box price, that took a while but its worth it for myself.

Tell me about it! I tried and failed miserably to get them to do anything other than the standard deals anyone can get. Their response was that existing customers were unhappy that new customers get better deals so they now offer the same to both. My answer to that little nugget was that in my eyes that was a negative for the long-standing customer, who now pays the same high price a new customer does!

"If at first you don't succeed - try, try again."

Little update for anyone interested or in the same boat. Tried again and after much debating, managed the following:

18 month contract.
£20 per month - includingALL calls to landlines/mobiles.

I know. It's not brilliant but it'll do what I need and includes what I wanted it to. At the moment, I need as little stress as possible!

Cheers to all who commented. Yes, even you, phil36. X)

AMEN TO THAT!! TalkTalk are by far the worst ISP I have encountered! Get rid of them! I wouldn't be with TalkTalk if they gave me the internet for free!!!!!

a very accurate observation, I experienced more downtime with them than up time so if measured by them providing you a service you would not be with them even if there were paying you to 'use' their 'service'

Thanks for the kind words ^_^ I am sorry I am so biased, I really had 3 years of hell with them, was stuck with a landlord who wouldnt change and I couldnt move at the time sadly, I wasted so many hours trying to ask why my internet wasn't there. they did eventually change to BT after I complained enough to them, it genuinely fixed all the problems, none of the wiring in the house was changed as talk talk insisted the problem was on my end, so I have no idea why I practically never got a stable connection with them.
