Teeth whitening

I've been looking to get my teeth whitened (not that they're ridiculously bad or anything!) but I cant afford the amount charged by dentists. Unfrotunately, none of the homekits like Rio (Argos/Tescos) have had people reviewing them so I dont know how good they are. Could anyone recommend a good homekit that give great results please?

Many thanks and a happy new year!

Just had a word with my daughter who is a specialist nurse in cosmetic dentistry about home kits, she said " don't bother as they are all rubbish as the active ingredients are so weak as to be a waste of time" Your best bet is to save a bit of cash and see a dentist who specialises in such things:)

My Daughter tells me that if you contact your PCT (primary care trust) they will have a list of all registered dentists in your area. A lot of them will be able to do a mould of your teeth with the chemicals required as a private patient or if not point you in the way of a specialist:thumbsup:

my bro got a kit from the net a year ago(think it was ebay). they are the proffesional thing for a fraction of the price(not the real cheapy ones though!). they did it the same way as the professional dentist kits here. they give you some playdo stuff to make the mould shaped to your teeth(which you send off the impression of) then send the gel through. it is quite strong so if your teeth are sensitive you wont like it!
have the phone number for them (say your an existing customer)

This according to my daughter is quite dangerous as the chemicals in the product may cause permenant damage to the teeth as they do not pass the strict safety controls in this country and is therfore not a wise choice

I think as you have had such positive results from these dentists it makes more sense to go down this route than to try doing this at home:)

i'm a qualified dental nurse & have to agree with most of the comments above, you should really save up & have it carried out by a dentist. If you are registered with a dentist, they are more and likely to offer this treatment for a private fee. The results are amazing, i have had it done myself (perks of the job and all that lol) & once you have had this done you can keep the mouthguards & just pay for extra gel to boost results again. The prices can vary depending on the dentist's hourly private fee but here in scotland it is around £300 for upper & lower teeth.

For christmas I got an Oral-B electric toothbrush, http://www.amazon.co.uk/Braun-Professional-SmartGuide-Rechargeable-Toothbrush/dp/B000RNXYQW

It has already made a difference to my teeth, this is from using it twice a day with an ordenary boots toothpaste.

I brush for about 4 minutes each time as I find the 2 minutes doesnt seem long enough. It was voted the best toothbrush on the gadget show & IMO it is great, I wish I got one sooner. They can be found for about £56 I think but we got ours for £70 from boots
