Ignore the usual dumb comment

If you have been advised by a specialist then they should have been able to get you to test several which are available on the NHS so you can make up your own mind-speak to your GP or pharmacist
and yes they do have a positive effect on most humans

Not much help at present, but keep an eye on Lidl, my wife bought one from there a few months ago, and it was very similar to the more expensive one in Boots, and was about half the price

I read (somewhere) that a TENS machine intended for women in labour is more powerful, as far as dealing with pain is concerned. I think the maternity versions have a "boost" button, but I can't vouch for this claim.

Boyf has an ordinary TENS machine for his muscle spasms/joint pains/arthritis but doesn't rate it at all.

Edited: Had a wee read. Came up with this:

"It seems the labour ones have higher settings, and also the boost button which normal ones don't have.

Apparently the obstetric TENS provides greater pain relief due to the boost button.
....you have it on constantly and then when a contraction comes you press the boost button and once the contraction is over it goes back down."

I bought mine ( a few years ago now) from Boots, am sure it was around the £25 reduced from £50, it gives me lots of different settings and allows me to control the strength of the pulse (as well as vary the wavelength etc).

Would thoroughly recommend it, just had a quick look at their site and I can't find the model I had. Like one of the other posters said - just go through Amazon and check out reviews before buying it.
