I currently have a ferolli 28c combi boiler and a wired thermostat. The thermostat uses just 2 wires and there are only 2 wires coming out of the wall. there is a blue and brown wire and they are connected to the R and W on the thermostat plate. I would like to buy the Migenie Wish 1 wireless thermostat but the wiring diagrams seem to show 5 wires and I'm struggling to find out if I would need to upgrade my wiring or if it will actually work with my current set up. I don't want to pay an electrician just to come and have a look unless I can help it and obviously don't want to buy the wireless thermostat if it won't work with my system. Does anyone know if my 2 wire system will work with the Migenie Wish 1 and how it should be wired?

don't mess with the wiring if you are not sure what you are doing. you can blow the pcb. the wires will be live neutral for your thermostat. the other three will probably be a earth and 2 for the loop that will tell the boiler when to come on and off. again don't mess with it if you're not sure. can be an expensive mistake and a wait for a new boiler to be fitted.

Hopefully you still have the book/wiring diagram for thr boiler. If so it's quite straightforward. The old 2 wire thermostat would of had just a live and neutral. The 3 wire thermostat will have a live that still goes to the same terminal plus 2 neutrals.....one that will go to the neutral terminal and a 'call for heat' neutral which will go to a third terminal shown on your diagram. If there is also an earth wire this is usually conected to earth but is not always used as the thermostat is double insulated.

He only has two wires.

5 core wire from the boiler to reciever - 3 will be obvious live/neutral/earth. The other two will replace your t1/t2 on the boiler or live/switch live(old thermostat wires).

You will need to check voltages are suitable on the boilers board.

I've got a free migenie, the app is awful, and very basic. I would just spend the extra on a Nest

The 2 wires will probably be to and t1/ t2 which is the heating control wires to turn the central heating on and off. With the new thermostat it will need power so live neural and earth will need to be sourced. You get the new power from the boiler switch. That's what I did and never used the old thermostat wiring apart from picking up the t1 and t2 old thermostat wire from near the boiler. I just cut off, then connected to new thermostat base station with another 3 core wire from boiler plug isolation plug. Put it all next to the boiler. Then the thermostat wireless control I put in lounge although I can move around if needed
