I was wondering if I could get the opinions of fellow HUKDers on here with regards to which network to go with for the next 12 months. I've been with Three for a number of years now and have managed to negotiate good loyalty discounts with them with their SIM only contracts (currently paying £12pm for the £21pm 600mins 12gb data contract). I travel to Europe quite often so the Feel at Home service has been VERY useful as it doesn't cost any extra, unlike VM, however conversely there have been many occasions when I've had signal issues in the UK despite being in major city areas and I would like more reliability in this regard.

I'm up for renewal now and can't decide whether to stick or shift. I'm not too bothered about the minutes allowance and 12gb data seems to be enough for me (though I tend to base my usage on how much data allowance I have).

I've reduced my options to these 3 below:

Three: Renegotiate current plan or try negotiating on the £20pm 30gb data deal.

Virgin: Sign up to the £15pm 20gb data.

I'd appreciate your opinions/experiences/thoughts on the two networks and their respective deals.

Thanks,

why not just carry on paying the 12 quid until something you really want comes along? or does ur current discount expire? I'm so so with 3 service it covers me enough for what I pay and use.. also why not look at 30 day options as then you have no tie..

I use ee and three sims in my phone VM being on ee reception is equally poor. Three have good customer service VM don't. Sadly I am in the same situation as you new contract but I need more then 600minutes and its too expensive on three so joining VM on £15 20gb deal. Feel at home is nice as data is so expensive abroad. But consider its not free. There is essentials plan without WiFi hotspot and feel at home and its cheaper. VM offer free WiFi in 240000 locations. And free messanger if you run out of data. Vm is rolling contract, three is atleast 12months. I will rejoin three asbsppn as they get a good deal out. Hope this helped :D

The current discount is ongoing on a 30day rolling basis. I just thought it would make sense to renew as I can't see any better deals coming than these, especially not from the major networks. If I can get the discount applied to the £20pm deal, I would be paying £1 less than I am now and have another 18gb for it. *fingers crossed :D

unless you need th extra data i'd look out for a ee contract at a similar price. Three are fine in my area so I'm happy to stay with them for the low price and feel at home but ee are generall the best signal and have roaming on their better plans. Then again all contracts will have free roaming this summer

I know that roaming charges are to be scrapped soon so just hold out and you will have more tarriffs available with better deals once its done

Im on unlimited minutes and texts and 8gb data with feel at home roaming so im undecided at the minute... i rang three and told them of the virgin offer and best they could do was take my feel at home and keep me on the same tarriff switching me to the essential plan hahahaha

Remember you're changing network, so don't assume the coverage will be the same, EE might have the largest network but obviously 3 have been ok or you would of ditched them for that reason.

Check the EE coverage at http://ee.co.uk/why-ee/mobile-coverage

Decided not to switch to virgin as the few people that I know on that network also reported reception issues in the same areas I was experiencing them with Three.

I rang Three to negotiate a price for the £20 600mins 30gb deal, they wouldn't go lower than £18 which I wasn't happy with (I was pushing for £13-14, hoping to settle for £15-16). Just before the call was going to end, they offered 600mins AYCE texts and data for £15pm on a rolling contract. Go figure. Well happy with that so I've signed up for it. It still includes Feel at Home and tethering allowance is 8gb.
