Hey fella, congrats on getting engaged.

It all depends on your budget!?

I did the deed about 6 weeks ago, stayed in Knightsbridge as it’s about a 10 minute work to old bond street where tiffany’s resides.

If Tiffany’s is not in your budget then there are a number gold/diamond merchants in that part of London.

Do you know what your looking for exactly? Or have a budget?

Hatton garden is pretty good, to get an idea of what you want, but, if your looking for a good quality diamond at a good price you may want to check this site

http://www.diamondgeezer.com/

go and get some ideas from hatton garden or any retailer for that matter than compare the prices on this site, for your budget (from your PM) you should get a pretty good diamond. All i sugest is. dont sacrifice quality for larger diamond. HTH

Why not take a cheap trip over to Amsterdam & buy one over there - they are soooo much cheaper.

Then bring it back & get your misses to be to choose a ring to set it in.

ps- congrats

I can recommend these guys http://www.thediamondshop.co.uk/ who are based in hatton garden. I bought a .93 carat VVS1 E diamond from there and they made a ring based on a tiffany design for me. I've also recommended them to another friend of mine who was delighted with their service and prices. worth a look.

I've left quite a lot of advice in another thread regarding diamond jewellery and i think it could be quite useful for you as well:

Hope that helps and congratulations on your decision.

Try also looking at MOISSANITE. It is an artificially created stone very similar to diamond. The diamond trade is not the most ethical in the world and many people suffer as a result of it. Don't fall for deBeers' marketing hype.

Excellent advice!

Forget Tiffany's. I bought diamond earings for my gf in AMS and they were the same size, same colour and one step of clarity higher than Tiffany for less than half the price.

How do AMS prices compare with GIA certified diamonds on Jamesallen and Bluenile sites please?

They've probably polished the hell out of them over the last 8 years...........
