Hi guys,

My 2 year old is having to have casts on his feet/legs to straighten his ankle and we need 2 cast protectors for when he is in the bath etc and was hoping someone knew a good place to get them. I didnt realise they were so expensive and please dont suggest carrier bags.

Just a heads up, in certain circumstances you can get waterproof casts fitted instead of traditional plaster ones. Maybe you can ask at the clinic next time, this US link will give you an idea. I'm sure that are available here.

If you want a certain cast applied, you will need to ask. most of the clinics have these, but due to cost dont advertise that they do. I think it's a bubble wrap type layer thats applied under fybre cast which keeps the skin dry. But do ask, and question them if they haven't maybe they will order it for you?
Otherwise they should have contact details of companies who supply the covers to go over the cast, and from what i can remember they still are quite expensive.

thanx will ask although dont think it will happen as it has to be removed every week until his ankle has gone back into place.

My daughter was in a cast at about 6 weeks of age for about 3months!( due to talipes) The hospital gave us a leaflet for a company that does the leg protectors. I think they were about £8 including p+p, also next day delivery. I expect your hospital would do the same.
Good luck with it all.

Also they ask you to measure the leg so it is a really good fit.
