What's the voltage and amps on the existing power supply? I have a spare Toshiba one lying around but not sure what it's from.

sorry i had to find the info - on the lead it has the following
ac adaptor
input 100-240V 50-60Hz 1.5A (1.5A)
output 15V 5a

does that mean anything ?

It makes sense. Unfortunately the one I've got is a 19V output so no use I'm afraid. The 15V ones are not so common so may not be as easy to get. £20 probably isn't too bad a price. I doubt you'll find a new one much cheaper.
