With zero movement, I'd have to press my home button for it to then read my thumb and unlock. I suspect he is doing the same.

Are they picking up the phone at the same time? I usually don't need to press the button to unlock from sleep. Just reads my thumb and unlocks.

In settings, go to General, Accessibility, scroll down to Home Button, scroll down to very bottom Rest Finger to Open.

Weird, it's in my iPhone SE settings. Did you scroll down to the very bottom after going to the home button?

I'm on IOS 10.2.1 the most recent version. Interestingly I don't have the Assistance option but Accessibility.

The "Rest Finger to Open" option is on my phone, as I said under General, Accessibility, whereas on your phone you say it says General, Assistance. So it looks like you do not have that option.

It's an iOS 10 feature, update your phone if you want it.

Won't slow my device down will it? As Would rather jeopardise camera for sake of performance
