Looking for a decent enough cheap pair of trainers that I can use for running outside and for using at the gym.

Any suggestions for places to buy online? Preferably a well known make like - asics, nike, reebok, adidas etc Also looking to not spend much more than £30 - £40 if possible.

Thanks for any recommendations.

Hi

These are good for running shoes and seem to have a bit of choice and different brands most of which are in your price bracket. :-D

Sports World had some decent Asics running shoes last time I went in the other week. Prices ranged from £30 - £90, depends on how much you want to spend

Asics are a great buy if you can get them cheap. I used to be a massive 1500m runner and the gel system in the Asics range is so underrated. Forget your Nike, Reebok, Addidas. These people at Asics know what they are doing, they are as good if not better than any other trainer on the market.

The only problem is the general public (especially the youth) have not taken to them so they are not labelled as a 'COOL' trainer.

A shame really as they are a very very good company who know what they are doing!!!

And they specialise in the type of trainer you are after, a comfortable running trainer. Well worth looking into mate if you really are picky about what you have on your feet.

If you want to get into running and avoid injury you really need to get yourself to a specialist running shop like Run and Become or Sweatshop. They will help you choose a shoe dependant on your running style and how often you will be running.

Brooks or Saucony make very good running shoes but are usually between £80 - £110. If you are just starting out you should be able to find a pair for around £60.

It's well worth having a look through www.runnersworld.co.uk before parting with your cash...

Thanks for the replies.
Not going to be serious running, just looking for a decent pair of trainers for running on the road and on the treadmil.

Will check out the links and advice and see if I can find a pair.
Thanks

A good pair of Asics are well worth it - done several marathons and 20+ mile races in that make.

Would also recommend going to a good shop to see what type of shoe they recommend (even if you then go and buy them cheaper on the 'net). The wrong shoe can cause you injury (speaking from experieince) and if you start building up the frequency or length on the road especially you would feel the benefits.

check out:

'the sweat shop' &
'sportshoes'

you will want to make sure you buy a pair suited to your running style.

I have had a few pairs of Asics and recommend them for road training.

I got a fitting for them in JJB sports and then bought them off Ebay.

Asics Gel Kayano X. Not cheap but don't scrimp on your running shoes.

Try www.joejogger.co.uk or www.virginrunner.co.uk they seem to be the cheapest especially for Asics 2120, a great running shoe.
