hey mate, dont even bother with a taxi, you will get charged a lot of money and takes much longer, trains are much faster and not like some of the rubbish local trains running in britain, they also have high speed double decker trains, once in the city just get a day pass for the undergrounds, the lines are straighforward to follow, and use the underground to get to your location. Having said ll this i did take a taxi about 5 years ago and cost me about 30 quid, for that money you might be able to get a pass for your duration on public transport.

I know what you are saying mate, but I land at 9pm and don't fancy trying to work the trains out or drag my bag from the train station to the hotel at about 10pm at night. Was thinking a taxi or something like that, i could jump in at the airport and jump out right outside my hotel

work out the trains before you go they are an excellent way to travel, and very very good value, if you do want a transfer you can try holidayextras.co.uk or .com to get a guaranteed transfer, not worth the risk of a taxi at the airport.
the trains are fab and you can get a pass to go on loads of them, hey try the metro it was superb!!!

take a passport photo with you and buy a carte l oranage - it is a pass for all forms of transport and will cost you about £20 for the week buy it at the airport at the train station or bus station - runs from Monday to Monday

A taxi will cost about £150/200 its a long way away from the centre of Paris the train is next day to the airport and its straight forward journey from there. You can get a taxi to your hotel from main line station so no messing about with the metro.

Well lets start off with which airport you are going to? I'll guess at CDG. Just get the train, as people have said its no hassle and you will find most people will be getting it anyway. Then once in Paris get a taxi to your hotel.

Well I hope you will be doing more than speak to the wife!:p

Have a good trip.

Ps You may get beggars on the train (as everywhere now) just look them in the eye and give them a firm no and they go away. Or just learn a few lines of Chinese and when they come over look confused and say a few Chinese words and they will soon scuttle away.

I know it is too late but just for your future reference, a taxi at that time of night to central paris will cost you 40 - 50 euros. I often get them and live further from central paris and that is what it costs me. So it should actually be cheaper.

Even in the day time it is never that expensive.
You would have to be sitting in traffic for about 2 hours for it to get that high.
