Hi guys,

Bit of an odd one. My partners parents have got a new Samsung 6500 class 49" TV and are having issues with their triax box.

They used to be able to watch free view upstairs on a second TV which seems to get it's signal from the triax box downstairs.

The triax box in question is a F100/1 which just has two F connectors on it and nothing else.

There is a cable from the Ariel to the triax, triax to the sky box then a standard Ariel cable from the sky box to the TV.

Since swapping the TV's over they've been unable to even scan for free view channels. Any option you choose comes back with nothing. If you plug the old TV back in (an lg) it picks feeeview up fine and the TV upstairs starts working again.

I think the problem is the fact the new TV cannot pick up any free view channels and as such, they can't be picked up upstairs.

Does anyone have any suggestions? Other than getting an engineer out to wire the place properly?

Thanks.

Iirc the f110/1 is just a masthead psu for an amplifier. It's not a distribution box or anything so I'd guess they just get their signal from the sky box.

Hi have you checked it's not free sat you plug in it and not free view. Free sat will have a screw type connection. If you can try to connect direct to your triax box direct.

Hi.

No it's definitely free view that they used to get upstairs. There are no spare screw connection cables, just a standard Ariel cable.

As I said, if I plug the old TV back in it works fine. That's with the standard cable going into the TV, no screw type cables.

Ive never seen this setup before. I can't understand why the old TV can be tuned to pick up free view but the new one can't see any of the channels. Presumably I choose the "free view" option when tuning?

What's the make and model of old tv and new tv?
#5
Yes free view on tuning

Old TV is an LG 37LG3000-ZA

New TV is a Samsung UE49KU6500U

Thanks

Ok that's an odd one have you updated the tv? Connect to wifi or network point and update the software on tv. Also check single level if tv can give you that information.

Try a different arial cable if you can

Hi. I've tried a different cable, same as before. Works on the old TV, doesn't work on the new one.

I still can't get any channels on the new one doing a normal scan. Very odd.

Yes I updated the TV before I started, all very odd.

Cheers

Can you by pass the triax box try a direct connection from downstairs. Disconnect the sky/TV. Other option is to take tv down to other tv and check there. If you can take pics of how the cables and connections in both locations and share them. Where do you live? TV engineer will charge over £100 to come out to look at it.

Could be a faulty tv.

Can't take pictures at the moment but will try later.

I'm beginning to think its an issue with the new TV to be honest. They put the old TV back, did a factory reset and managed to find all the normal free view channels on it again with a simple scan. The TV upstairs then started working again. The second they unplugged the old TV, upstairs went blank.

Thanks for the help but I don't think it's an issue with the cables in this case.

I think unless the new TV is setup with the free view channel's I'm not going to get anywhere. I'll have to see if there's any options I'm missing on the search.

Thanks.

Thanks. I'll get them to try that.

Cheers for all your help.

I had this exact same problem. I fixed it by changing the region settings on the tv. hope this helps you

Are you doing a digital scan, not an analogue scan?

Can i ask what region you changed it too? I've not had the chance to look at the settings yet so i'm not sure on the options.

Also, sorry for the delay in replying. Master reset didn't work but i'll have a look at the region settings.

I've done all scans just to rule them out by the way. Thanks.
