TV just blew up - looking for 32" LCD

Hi

The title says it all, the TV just went KAaboom!

I am looking to get a 32" (min - 37" max) LCD which I can wall mount with built in Freeview so I can chuck the set top box. I really don't know what brand I should be looking at or resolution or even if it should have HD/1080p etc. I don't know what constitutes a good price for what I'll get so if someone can point me in the right direction I would be grateful.

Thanks in advance

First thing is to decide on the correct size you want.......this will depend on the distance you are viewing from and what it will look like on the wall.

I recommend that you cut a piece of cardboard the size of the tv you are thinking of buying and place it on the wall approximately the position where it will go - does it look the right size for your room? more importantly does your partner agree?

There are lots of recommendations elsewhere about viewing distance vs size of screen - if its less than 10 feet you may be better going with a 32". If you get a 37" and sit 6 ft away you probably won't be happy with the picture. If you go for 32" then 1080p is probably unnecessary.

Thought about cabling and height above the floor of the tv? Plopping it above the mantlepiece may look okay but you'll end up with a stiff neck.

This all may have already occurred to you but just thought I'd mention it
