I am looking for a similar thing and it is coming down to...
1. PS3 Slim
2. Popcorn Hour (either A110 or C200)
3. Western Digital HD WD TV Media Player

All do somethings better than the other and as ever its a trade off between price and functionality. Good luck!

already got a ps3 phat, so would be wd or popcorn looked in to the sumovision hdmi adapter or nbox from dx

What's wrong with the PS3. I was thinking about getting one as a mediaserver. Is it no good then?

i got a ps3, and i like it but its for taking it to mums you see cant lug around ps3 or massive multimedia server lol
