Help. Hoping to buy an upscaling dvd player to go with my new LCD, and a a good quality scart and HDMI leads. Have seen the following on amazon

Sony DVP-NS78 - DVD Player With HDMI & 1080P Upscaling by Sony - £49.99
Thor Scart to Scart 1.5m £12.85
Philex 3m HDMI to HDMI Cable £7.00

Can you guys recommend anything better?

You asked for something better and this is definitely and guaranteed to be better and had rave reviews http://www.reghardware.co.uk/2006/11/28/arcam_unveils_dvd_upscaler/ and is an Arcam DVD upscaler with super quality , I think the price is just over £1000.

you can get Belkin Blue flat scarts quite cheaply off of Amazon (i think its a marketplace seller), although the Thor range is generally accepted to be about the best for the money.

HDMI leads: Buy the cheapest that does the job (make sure it conforms to v1.3 or whatever you need for your telly/source). Anything extra is pure profit for the seller and as they say "Don't beleive the hype"

I have a couple of the thor scart leads and found them to be very good quality. Obviously you can get better if you're willing to pay fair bit more, but think they're value for the money :)

If you're using HDMI you don't need Scart as well. Just buy the cheapest one you can find.
