Urgent help required with cameras and camcorders!

Hi folks, I wonder if you all could help me?! (If this is in the wrong section of the forum then I apologise)

I am going to be upgrading my digital camera around Christmas time and will also be getting a camcorder for my Birthday, which is 4 days before Christmas!

I am a complete novice at this sort of thing so would appreciate any kind of help/recommendations that you may be able to pass on. I currently have a 3MP Kodak Easyshare digital camera which has produced good results over the last few years but is too bulky for me. I dont want anything that is too much for my requirements so I have listed below what I am looking for.

Camera: I normally take pictures on holidays, special events, etc so would need it to be portable enough for these activities. I take quite a few pictures of scenery, landmarks, etc so would like the camera to have a decent resolution coupled with a strong optical zoom for optimum results. I have seen the Panasonic TZ23/TZ25 and the Canon IXUS 85 IS (I think these are the model numbers!) and they look similar to what I would need. Budget is £150 tops, although I would like to be closer to the £100 mark if possible.

Camcorder: Again, would like this to capture holidays, kids growing up, etc and would like it to have a decent resolution. A large optical zoom isnt so important but I would like it to have a decent enough zoom to capture a reasonable distance. Would prefer it to have a SD card slot, HDD drive or both as I would need to chop and change between the camcorder and my computer. I have been looking at the HD camcorders as I have a HD TV but they have been quite expensive is getting a HD one really that important? I have seen the Panasonic HDC SD9 and the Sony HDRSR 10E and they look pretty decent to me. Budget is £500 absolute maximum although I would prefer to spend around the £400 mark or lower.

If you have any suggestions, comments, thoughts, recommendations, etc then please post here and help me solve my dilemma!

Many thanks in advance

TZ3 the black colour version (pricier and smarter looking that the silver and blue) in excellent condition, with all original accessories and box. selling cos i don't use it as much as i thought i would. has a 2gb sd card and a delkin pop up shade which was £20, think i have all packaging for this too..(http://www.delkin.com/store/uk/product.php?productid=307&cat=55&page=2) to make it easier to take pics in sunlight etc...has a cover/ case which isnt great, but does the job.

You probably know about its extensive zoom and the rest of it, so i wont bore you.. asking for £140.00...all in
140 but open to neg:whistling:, though it does have the delkin pop up shade and always used with a screen protector...
