So a couple of weeks ago I was too nervous to post asking for laptop advice on here, as you must all get really fed up with people asking the same stuff. So I went and bought from Tesco an eMachines laptop for £330 (think its now £299), as it seemed to have decent spec etc for my budget of up to £350. Sooo... as soon as I started using it, it became apparent that the mousepad thing is absolutely awful. It would open new windows and highlight things willy nilly, when I was just wanting the cursor to run across the page. It was so bad I just couldnt use it on sites like this with lots of clickable things. Sometimes it simply wouldn't work at all. I've never encountered this before on other laptops Ive used. The delete key and the backspace key were abnormally stiff and the delete key broke completely after nine days, leaving the backspace key so stiff it just didnt work. This all apart from the really nastily cheap plastic shell, it felt like plastic from a ... pedal car or something, really horrible. The keyboard was very flimsy too, and appeared to almost bulge up slightly in the centre. I was a secretary, I touchtype, and know I wasn't rough on the board.
So, laptop has been returned and I urgently need another. I am now plucking up the courage to ask for the advice of all you computery whizzes on this site! I have a medical conditon where I need to keep my legs raised, so sitting here at the desktop is a no no most of the time. PLEASE can someone help with a recommendation?
Ive gone crosseyed and got a headache looking at the recommendations on here already, but with limited technical know how, I just baffled myself. I saw that Toshiba do extended warranty much cheaper than other brands, so that would definitely be a consideration. I won't be gaming or doing music/video stuff. Its mainly for browsing, chatting, bills, etc, but one that won't go obsolete in a fortnight. an inbuilt mic would be handy, but not a deal breaker. Im on a tight budget and this is a big purchase for me, so I would like something quite reliable.
THANKYOU in advance for any help at all, Im truly stuck at the moment, for what to do.
