Recently done a lot of files transfering, and drive wiping on some old computers, hell of a pain to do. Found this item which seems like it could make this job alot easier

http://www.amazon.co.uk/USB-SATA-Adaptor-Cable-Power/dp/B000R18ZNQ/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1264186722&sr=1-2

anyone know of a better price? delivery seems a little steep

would need to be IDE and SATA compatible, since i use both.

thanks

I've bought something similar a year or so ago and indeed it is very useful. Mine came with it's own mains adaptor which I don't think that Amazon version does. From the description I think you have to fit a spitter cable to get power to the drive which means opening the PC. It also means that the PSU must be powerful enough for an extra hard drive.

I'd recomend getting one with a mains adapator. You can get them on eBay for approx. £9 which includes delivery (shipped from the UK) or approx. £5.50 shipped from Honk Kong (about 2½ week delivery). Just make sure it supports both 2.5 and 3.5 IDE types.
