We've just made a toy kitchen for our daughters, what varnish should we use to seal it?

£0.00 @
We have used MDF & painted it, looking for something to seal it as they'll be playing with water in the sink part no doubt & the little one likes drawing on things :-(

ok thanks, I've seen yatch varnish, what's the difference?

Check to see how long it takes the varnish to fully dry. Some varnishes can take a long time before they stop being tacky.

Thanks never thought of that.

I would suggest you use something quick drying, exterior, and water based. I presume as you have used MDF that you don't intend it to stand outside in all weathers?

yatch varnish is tougher dont use quick drying as its mostly water an oil based 1 will be 24 hrs tops before dry but it will be better long term.

You can get water based quick drying yacht varnishes these days ;) Better to have a few coats of water based varnish quickly applied than a smelly one coat of spirit based varnish - especially if it is going to be in a child's bedroom.
