My service, Cam and Alternator cost me just under £1000. I think about £600 was the alternator (not sure though). Also it was from main Vauxhall dealer as no one else could do it for about a week (they did it same day)

Hi there

Go online and get tel no for 5/6 local dealers to you thenget a quote from them.

My vectra 2.0 dti

A full service + mot was only £200.00 all in a fair price.
I needed front and rear pads _ wear indicator Same dealer was £230.00 All in.
A bit steap for me so rang around.

A dealer 10 miles away opp direction did the job for £168.00.

Get price then bargin with other dealers they are in need of our money so haggle ok

ALSO check the cruse control works BECAUSE early modles had a falt.

The spring on the clutch pedel was not strong enough to pull the pedel up so rode the clutch+cruse did not engage.
A warranty fix even if car was over 3 years old.
A good way to get money off if not working all the time.

Thanks for that.

Am I right to say if 58K miles, will be needed on next service?

That seems an absolutely ridiculous price. An altenator would be no where near £600

Best thing is to find an independant mechanic who has a good reputation. Ask work colleagues, or people you socialise with. You don't always get the best deal from a main dealer.

Unlock the car do not put key in lock hold down trip switch
Should show how many kilometers till service starts at 33000 klms

If you go to a local dealer for a service use good oil This link will show which to use.

For an oil service use National Tyres. Best oil and filter if booked on line is only £40.00 i think.

To reset service light manually

1 open car put key in ignition do not turn on
2 Hold trip button down hold down and put foot on brake pedal
3 Still hole down both and now turn on ignition wait 5/10sec light will reset to 33000 klms ok.

Yeah I know, but RAC took it to the vauxhall garage cos it was the only place open when the alternator went. I needed the car back fast so spent the extra. Would have lost more in wages.
