http://www.ebuyer.com/UK/product/106578/rb/28165388986

this one for £49 using google checkout....plus extra for super saver postage

doubt you'll be able to use the dabs voucher as the cards will not be expensive enough.

Was going to get one of them, but out of stock....

The coupon is £75 spend, but have something already that is costing about £25 so a £50 dabs card will do.

That's only 128mb and out of stock now, is a silent version but doesn't seem that good value to me. To be honest there really doesn't seem to be much at DABS, there is a 7600GS for £47 but it is fan-cooled. A passive version is available for £56.

There is also a passively cooled 8500GT for £67.44 which offers DirectX10 and H264 decoding (so probably better if your using it mainly to watch videos or as a HTPC but worse for gaming performance than a 7600GT I think).

In perspective, a passive 7600GS is £47.42 before discounts at ebuyer (£41.88 delivered after GC discount). A heatpipe cooled 8600GT is available for £85.07 before discounts (£75.07 delivered after GC). Not saying DABS is bad value, just ebuyer has competitive prices even when your discount is taken into account. If you DABS voucher last a long time it might be a good idea to hang onto it for now and use it when GC promotion has ended!

Thanks JAH for the links, surly a DX10 would be better on my vista for a little future proofing???. Why would this be worse for games than a 7600???

Also the link is incorrect for "A heatpipe cooled 8600GT is available for £85.07 before discounts (£75.07 delivered after GC). "

Whoops, changed that now.

I think the 8500 is a lesser card games wise than 7600. The 8600GT is better though - probably the best heatpipe based card at the moment I think. You are probably right re: Vista, also the 8500\8600 are definately good choice if you plan on watching HD movies and clips etc.

From looking at a few benchmarks (they are still relatively new so there are that many reviews about), the 8600GT typically outperforms the 7600GT by 10 - 30%, bringing it close to a Radeon X1950Pro. The 8500GT is effectively half an 8600GT and thus performance is typically halved also, so it falls behind the 7600GT (its close to a 7600GS in performance it seems). However, its worth considering these are DirectX 10 parts, they are efficient (low power consumption) and they have better video decoding than the 7xxx series.

So, basically, if you just want a cheap card to play some games at lowish res get the 7600GS, if you want HD video on-top get the 8500GT. If you are prepared to spend a bit more for higher-settings in current games and the ability to play future games I reckon the 8600GT is the way to go (given that there isn't much difference in price between a silent 7600GT and the silent 8600GT).

That all said, I'm not sure the 8600GT will fit in your case (its got a big heatsink on the opposite side to normal for a graphics card which will probably interfere with the CPU cooler - you best have a look!). This might rule out all the heatpipe-based coolers and limit you to a 7600GS\8500GT (which have normal heatsink coolers).
