Hi

I have 100mb broadband currently paying £25.25 due to go up to £28.24 in Dec.

I rang them and they said they could do it for £27.25 for 6 months then £30.25 there after on a new contract. Which works out the same as it will be more than £28.24 after 6 months.

I then asked how much for 50mb and they said £23.25 for 6 months then £26.10 a month there after.

Both would be on a 12 months new contract.

I only have broadband with them as phone line is with BT.

Has anyone had any better deals just for Broadband alone? The advisor says thats the lowest price they can do at the moment.

Not sure if 100mb to 50mb will make much difference? Kids use it for youtube and ipads and game consoles. Or is it better staying as is and paying £28.24 a month instead for 100mb?

Any help much appreciated. I know there is BT Infinity 73mb they are doing for £25 a month and you get £125 mastercard but never been with BT and so wary of throttling etc.

I'd say not much difference between the speed unless the family are heavy users at the same time. But for general, 50 is more than plenty.

If you transfer your landline with them as well. Take the advance line rental option works around £15.33/month.

I jhave been offered retention deal 50mb (Will be 70mb on end of September) for £11 for first 6 months and £14 for rest of 6 months works out £12.50/month.

In total it will work out £27.83 per month.

Yeah thats good. But I know first hand with porting numbers from BT to VM there can be problems and don't want to risk losing our home number but financially makes sense having BB and line.

I've got 70MB broadband and phone line at 22.99 per month. I phoned them a few months ago when it expired and they renewed it for another year (although they forgot to apply the discount, which is now all sorted).

Try putting in a cancellation and see if they call you back, they doubled discounted for us was paying £26 for 150Mb broadband only about to go up to £36 put in the cancellation and they called back a few day later asking why we were leaving told them if it wasn't going up would stay, guy then offered £22 and change snapped his hand off. Until I put in the cancellation it was only reduced speeds and slight price decrease they were offering.

Discount is for 18 months new 12 month contract but with the normal price increases that means nothing nowadays.

I transfered my number from Sky to Virgin Media and had no issue at all. Remember that your landline number should stay active with current provider until transfer is completed.

Are these prices people are quoting including line rental? Or just the packages?

My prices are just broadband deals ... you can get a lot better deals taking out bundles for line rental and broadband
