Looking at getting Sky - new customer left 3-4 yrs ago or Virgin media- wanting decent broadband, line rental some calls, Tv- Variety -would like sky1 and childrens- no sports or movies. Seen the Sky deal on here and its very tempting would work out £37.50 after 1st 3 months but want to check if any other deals around that price out there

Personally get a better deal with Virgin ourselves, we even had a cold caller from Sky come round and was sure he could offer us a better deal until I told him we were getting XL TV, 10mb Broadband, Line rental, evening and weekend phone calls, and using a V+ box all for £35 per month (Excluding phone calls) Couldnt begin to match it (although we are on a retention deal, after complaining when originally lost Sky tv, which is now back!)

However, even without, things to look out for with Sky are the extra costs, such as BT Line rental, and unless you pay a premium for unlimited (capped) there is a broadband download limit (V+ I know is capped, but still "unlimited")

When I price up virgin it seems to come to a lot where with Sky I was getting sky+ free, installation free, variety and kids TV, line rental evening and weekend calls and their max broadband I must be going wrong somewhere

I think its just the matter of being aggressive with each company, if you just go on the websites you never get the best deal, you need to get a quote from the one, and ask the other what they can do to better it.

give virgin a ring - i did and got M tv 10mb broadband (never been capped and there is four of us downloading constantly) and evening and weekend calls for £27. Also there call charges arent to bad, got a free wireless router and a certain box for all the channels...

Yeah like with retention deal like I am on with virgin, after complaining with the original loss of Sky One, even as a new customer, you call up find out what one can offer you for your cash then call the other and ask how they can beat it...simply they want your money and get you tied in whether it be Virgin or Sky, at the end of the day if you just sign up on the websites they will gladly let you pay that fee...if you pitch the one against the other by calling customer support you would be surprised how much you can knock them down.
