I know this may be a bit basic, but I need some help.

I will be spending time in both NZ and the UK. I want to be able to access British TV, both live and on player (BBC, ITV, UKTV Play and C4) while I am in NZ, but particularly BBC as it ad free, unlike NZ TV which seems to have ads every few minutes. I have a BBC TV licence so I think should be okay using iplayer as you have to log on now. I would also like to be able to switch between countries when I am back in the UK so I can do google searches on google.co.nz and not end up with all the UK websites instead of NZ ones. Is there any safe VPNs people would recommend for this?

Thanks

Thank you all so much. I definitely want it to work with iplayer, that's the main reason I want it. I will check out the options that appear to work with iplayer. If anyone has any other suggestions, keep posting.

There's plenty online that covers this.

iplayer will not work with a VPN.

I've used privateinternetaccess.com for over 2 years. not the cheapest but the best. You install the agent and can choose to go though about 20 options around the world for the VPN.

If you have your own place with its own phone/broadband connection in each country, you could buy 2 used Draytek Vigor 2830 routers (£20-£30 each) and let them host your own VPN for each country.

Failing that a subscription to the likes of Private Internet Access for US$40 a year allows you to connect 5 devices and switch the host country via the control panel on their website/app.

iplayer will not work with a VPN.
BBC iPlayer is in principle compatible with all VPN services, however I am sure that the BBC pays a company to monitor/block the IP ranges of popular VPN services.

iplayer works with NORD on an ipad out of the uk. So long as the VPN has a UK server that can be selected, you should be fine. It also works with PIA and several others I have tried. Over the years I have found VPN's a bit hit and miss, but the above two are pretty stable, I prefer the Nord interface.

I'm going to check them all out over the next couple of days. I go to NZ the following week so hopefully I will be signed up and set up by then. I will try them out on my ipad and laptop.
