there was one lying at Shotts Motor Auction (Lanarkshire) alongside 3 DB9's last week don't know if they are still there - came from a prestige hire company that went bust - could be a bargain - hehehe

but as they are as rare as hen's teeth - probably not

got pics on my phone

If you want one this year you'll have to pay a premium, from information available the entire allocation of right hand drive models is sold out for this year. It seems it is the choice of the discerning footballer around town. According to What Car? the list price is £78,195 and the target price is £78,195, but the list of options is extensive and expensive. I have heard of some right hand drive models being offered at up to £100,000 fully loaded with every gadget. A quick search of a well known auction site shows 18 cars listed and the cheapest is £80000 1400 miles in red, seems to have a good spec, makes you wonder why the owner wants to sell!
Good luck!
Why not try a Baby Bentley instead, the footballers are flogging these to buy Audis. Might get a good deal, especially near Derby, Fulham and Reading in a couple of weeks!

the one at 80k sounds good if its speced up, no point spending all this pony and getting a second rate one eh?
as for the baby bentley, thats what im smoking now, well my missus is and its ok i just fancy something thats looks a bit more aggresive, was looking at a noble too but its a different class and not as well specced

The Noble is head to head with the TVR, a good car for the cash but not in the league of the Audi. Build quality is a real issue with both TVR and Noble, the Noble is more reliable but seems a bit flimsy. The TVR is, well a TVR, it's brutally quick, sounds awesome, but you wouldn't want to rely on one. I've owned a few and they all had a very annoying habit of letting you down when you most needed it!
What about the new Jaguar? Seems to be getting good reviews.

i saw my first one in the flesh yesterday -- looked incredible (very purposeful). lets just hope they arent all bought by old men who drive at 20mph... ;-)

I googled audi r8.
http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://www.autounleashed.com/images/audi_r8_fire.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.autounleashed.com/creepy-audi-r8-burns-on-a-street-in-germany&h=92&w=127&sz=26&tbnid=3wI9yFpRGFsJ:&tbnh=92&tbnw=127&prev=/images%3Fq%3Daudi%2Br8&sa=X&oi=image_result&resnum=1&ct=image&cd=3

Scary, I wouldn't want a car that spontaniously combusts and the manufacturer knows about the problem but still putting the cars on the road.

Mercedes are still my manufacturer if choice. I was brought up to believe an audi is a poor man's mercedes. (I come from a family of car snobs who nearly disowned me when I bought a Fiat Punto, so I can hardly talk!)

You don't buy such a car on the cheap, it's a premium product and the overall package is far more important than the bottom line figure.

Mercedes released a car with severe stability issues and took several months to issue a fix (the A Class and the "moose" test)

Mercedes were a premium brand up to late 1970's. Now they are just German built taxis!;-)

Both BMW and Audi produce better cars now.

A lot of this is just image .
In the JD Power survey Audis were slated by owners for bits of interior trim falling off.
BMWs have had gearbox and engine problems.
Mercedes went through a bad patch but seem fine now.
Bentleys were sold with defective brakes. Ok now .
I used to have a 4.0 litre Jaguar XJ . It was better built than the Mercedes I have now and usually did
well in reliability surveys.
For the last 6-7 years I have had a Merc E320cdi . It doesn't have the luxury feeling of the Jag. but is
much more efficient . It will touch 145mph but on a trip to Heathrow and back(about 200mls) returns 44mpg . Incredible !
The only recurring problem I have had has been with the sat-nav.

I suppose buying a car is a very personal thing and once you get to the price range of the OP the choice
gets less , but I am sure he will enjoy the search :).

I know the owner of this company..

They have got an 08 plate R8 in at the moment after a customer returned it. Maybe heavy discount available, maybe give them a call

Actually found it on autotrader, bit more than I expected..

i am at present in talks with an audi dealer and also a maserati dealership, many thanks for all your help guys

If you get a Maserati I will be REALLY jealous.

I briefly owned an 80's Bi-Turbo, but it should have been an Uno-Turbo as one of the blowers was knackered.
