Do you mean Launceston, Tasmania?
You don't mention what date in June so I picked the beginning and get £687.10 through travelocity.co.uk out 2nd June back 16th June from Heathrow out with BA and back with Qantas.

Have you tried doing it this way

London to Sydney Travel from:01 Apr 2009Travel until:30 Jun 2009 488 inc taxes

Sydney to Launceston

virgin blue works out around 150 return depending on what time you fly

Jetstar works out at 105 return again depending on what type of ticket and time

https://book.jetstar.com/Select.aspx

so you could get it for around 588 - 650

^ Careful though, if you're delayed into Sydney in either direction and miss the next flight you'll have to pay again for the next flight if you book separate tickets.

True but if you book a flight at least two hours after landing at sydney you should be alright and the two hours flys by as you have to go through customs then go to the domestic terminal which takes about 20 mins ( done it a few times myself)

I meant a 'proper' delay, you know, around 6-8 hours, that sort of thing. There is no 'safe' minimum connection time if you have separate tickets. Sure, you could leave a whole day to do it but then you're looking at adding a hotel room into the equation.

If I was travelling half way round the world I wouldn't gamble like this to save at most £94.

ok i see what your saying but these days it is quite rare to have a long delay on major airlines belive it or not i fly long haul every 4 weeks and havent had a delay in nearly 12 months, the risk of a major delay is minimum

Thank you both for your help :)
The date I was looking for was 6th of June, but I think the 3rd would be fine :)
