Hi, just watched a Martin Lewis programme and it's not be started wanting to cut down my bills.

Please can please tell me how I start looking for cheaper insurance for my home and contents. I currently pay Coventry £96 a month. What are the best comparison websites (I realise I could also get Quidco as a bonus, but that isn't 100% guaranteed, so I prefer to go for the cheapest quote)

Anyone whose an expert in money saving, what are the best deals for:

1. Telephone Bill (I am currently with BT, does anyone know if there is a deal for free daytime local calls, I call me mum alot daytime and it costs a fortune)

2. Gas and Electricity

£96 is a fortune per month to pay for buildings and contents insurance. £1,152 per year, are you sure it's £96 per month? Last November I switched mine to Prudential, bought it through Quidco and got £75 cash back the policy only cost £141for the year, so got more than half back! Some really good cashback deals with Quidco.

Gas & electricity you can switch these through Quidco as well, the amount varies depending on which company you use. www.uswitch.com is pretty good for getting an idea of the cheapest supplier in your area then check out Quidco and switch through them

Mine costs about £140 (London) for the whole year with Prudential after Quidco :)

1. For your telehpne, just upgrade your BT package to include all daytime calls, you will then be able to call mum for nothing for up to an hour per call.

2. Uswitch as mentioned above is excellent for gas and electricity

I heard that you can take out buildings and contents insurance separate and you get the quidco cashback twice :w00t:! I was skeptical we got our motor insurance through them. Searched the various high cashback sites got the cheapest and took the risk. Paid off as the money came through!

If your mum is technical and you both have broadband skype is pretty good to talk via. You need a microphone though. MSN messenger works pretty good too we often talk via webcam with our inlaws.
