Hi there,

Can anyone please recommend a basic Desktop PC that will be used only for internet, Word Processing, storing of photos etc and little else. I require the whole caboosh including monitor, keyboard etc please

I imagine there are plenty out there at around the 300 or less for something so basic these days but I would like to get the best (processor, memory, graphics card et al) for my money. Who wouldn't?

Any suggestions?

Many thanks in advance.

Thanks for this Ascot! What a price!!

Now I need a monitor. Anyone know of any cheap ones around? TFT would be nice but it doesn't have to be big

If you're thinking of buying the PC from Ebuyer, take a look at their monitors. They usually have a reasonable choice at around £100-150 delivered. Decide what you want and then have a look around but you're unlikely to save more than a few pounds on Ebuyer prices.

You'd probably want to add an extra gig of memory to the PC (cost about £15-20) as Vista is likely to be a struggle on 512mb.

Glad i could help diggergraves

Yet again there are some good deals on monitors @ ebuyer around £70 onwards

Without blowing ebuyers trumpet, i have to say ebuyer take some beating on prices on some items

These days unfortunatly crts are pretty much dead. For LCDs 20-22" widescreen is a good size if you're looking to get a cheap monitor. The low-end ones at this size are about £110 and they jump up to £190 when you get to the 24" monitors. 20" and 22" use the same resolution of 1680x1050 so 22" compared to 20" displays the same work area but with everything scaled up slightly.

There's a 20" for £105 delivered here.
