anyone know of any freeware (or possibly not hint hint) where to get a video converter from MOV files to either MPEG or AVI?

also is there a way of doing this using QuickTime player or WindowsMediaPlayer?

Moved to deal requests.. :)

Nero should do it (as long as it includes Nero Recode) if Winavi doesn't.

Have a look at http://www.imtoo.com/ $45 to download or free on certain p2p sites.

Best place to look would be here:-

Videohelp MOV to AVI link

Super seems the move popular I've heard of for going MOV to AVI.

(It's also listed in the MOV to mpg section).

I use the windows (mingw/cygwin) builds of Mencoder, which is a linux encoder that comes with Mplayer

it can convert from just about anything to just about anything, is free, but requires you to get to grips with the command line

Another highly regarded mpeg encoder is tmpgenc - but I don't think this can handle movs, so you'd need an intermediate step to get from .mov to .avi

SUPER probably the most exhaustive AIO freeware video converter I have used.

Seen this post a bit late(!) but would definitely agree that Super is the best solution to the request. Used it many times:thumbsup:
