You could get a disosable one or a digital camera you can put in a case. Try ebay for the latter especially - you might even find a case for your current camera.

Some reviews on digital ones: http://www.reviewcentre.com/products2914.html the top sony one is only 2 or 3 mp - here in ebay item 250279877185
Otherwise disposable: 280254826177 but also available at boots so if you've got advantage card points you could spend them.

I have this one from next - http://www.next.co.uk/shopping/electric/cameras/3/1

I paid £49 for it as it had the case included where as you could buy it for £40 at argos without the case so i thought it was worth the extra £9 but now it has gone down to only £35

Its not the best camera but its certainly worth the money.
If you look around you would probably get it cheaper than £35 but i just ordered it from next for the ease.

Hope that helps.

The one hollypinder suggests is extremley cheap for a camera and waterproof housing..as you can spend that much alone just for the case! I've never seen one so cheap.. im looking into this too!

I believe it takes SD cards..and AA batteries.. but im not sure.

Hi, it takes AAA batteries and SD card. I have lots of photos taken with it. All the photos taken on my previous threads is from this camera. Or if you would like me to upload another one just let me know. I have never taken one underwater yet but will when i go on holiday in a couple of weeks. Hope that helps. Anything else, just ask.

AAA batteries. As the camera is quite small. Very handy as it fits in handbag without taking loads of room.
Yes SD cards.
Also it comes with a case and strap which i was suprised about as not that many do these days.
for £35 you cant go wrong!!

Vivitar V5188 5MP Digital Camera sold out :(

i cant find it anywhere near that price either :-(
#22
If you are happy to have the standard of quality ( no offence meant to hollypinder) that Vivitar produce then there was a deal for a similar model posted a few days back for an Asda instore deal for £39

Everyone is entitled to their own and i have now upgraded to a better HP one but this one is great for underwater and to just slip in a small handbag. Thanks.

I agree, for a secondary camera..for underwater use, this is cheap and worth it for the holiday.

I disagree.
The original request from the OP said "doesnt have to be too swanky as long as it will take a decent piccy"

I've seen waterproof disposables with better quality than Vivitar.
When the holiday is over all you have are your memories and the photos, why compromise on a rubbish build camera when there are even cheaper options for better quality.

the images were not that bad!
I still think its an ok price for a holiday camera on a budget (thats what i was looking at)..there may be better but ive had trouble finding many at a reasonable price..
Not just for the op, i was interested in a 'waterproof' type too..but not just a case. or is it better to use ure swanky camera and a case..id be worried about it getting damaged!

which can you recommend?

I was refering to the general quality of Vivitar, not singling out the above pics as such, which is why I said "no offence to hollypinder" previously.

Personally I would look into a decent case for my normal camera, as long as you get a good quality one it wont damage the camera and holiday insurance should cover cameras.
It's a scuba diving/dolphin swim holiday, I'd want decent clear pictures for my memories.
#30
yes but id still be wary about the protection of it..id hate it if my beloved camera got damaged. but thats just my insecurities i know they can be good.
I shall look into cases.

Don't be taken in by their forced smiles, dolphins hate swimming with humans. You may as well get a gypsy to take your photo whilst holding a monkey in a t shirt and shorts.
