the terrain watches are great they are waterproof and ideal for warm countries, I generally get them of ebay for about £8 - £10 for o/h but remember you cannot change the battery yourself as it is pressure sealed as soon as you open it it becomes non-waterproof

Buy it in Florida, it will be cheaper than buying it here.

Plus you are not likely to get stopped at customs if wearing a new watch so will have no tax to pay on it.

Agree with guilbert53, we went to Florida in April and one the first day my husband's watch broke so he went and bought one for about $5 which is around £2.50 (or was at the time). Obviously you can buy a more expensive one if you want but the exchange rate is so good I would definitely get one while you're out there.

What sort of back is on the watch?

There's nothing that magic with what jewellers will do when changing batteries. Some - with expensive watches - will say you need to send it off.

But they, likely, will do nothing magic. They may replace a seal or gasket if it looks iffy, and they may pressure test it.

But apart from having the odd tool, with a cheap watch, there's probably no harm in changing the battery yourself.
