I've got various hard discs and had been using the WD Smartware software to back them up. I've recently bought a couple of HGST drives and didn't realise that the WD Smartware software would only back up to WD drives, unless I pay £19.99 for a license. So before I pay up:
a) Is it worth the money and will it reliably back up the files on all my hard discs (and leave them easily retrievable - it seems okay from what I can see but I haven't had to test it as yet).
b) Is there a cheaper alternative that would work just as well? I'd be slightly reluctant to do this as I've already backed up two 3TB drives, so I'm guessing I would have to start from scratch and back them up all over again but I would bite the bullet if necessary.
Thanks in advance for any advice.
