hi guys, my first post so please excuse if it's in the wrong place....... as a busy mum of 6 my husband & i don't get much time to our selves. we now have a baby sitter for 3 days from 8am friday 19th september until late sunday. it's my 30th birthday soon so my husband would like to take me away the problem is that we only have about £200 / £250 to spend & i'm struggling to find somewhere no too expensive. we are based m6 jct 34. we do have a car but it's not very reliable. it would probably get us about 2 hours away max. was thinking london but can't find a cheap enough train ticket. we have passports & could fly from liverpool / manchester. do you think it can be done?!?!

hiya have you tried devere hotels? they have loads of deals on at the mo and have a few not too far from you, im guessing with six kids you woul dprefer the peace and quiet rather than hustle and bustle of london. im not sure the quick flight away woul dbe very cheap, once you factor in a little insurance, car parking taxi the other end and all your food etc you will soon wave off five hundred notes in a few days.

give the de vere site a bash or look out for super special deal sthey are doing

www.megabus.com go from Liverpool and Manchester about £40 return for both of you for the dates you want. May even be nearer stops to where you live.
2 nights for price of 1

Brent Cross Holiday inn £55 per night and hotel offers free shuttle service to and from Brent cross tube station. Across the road from the big Brent Cross Shopping Centre. Ask for room at the back as on busy road at the bottom of North Circular.

If you want a hotel a bit more central Regents park is £72 per night.. Kensington £77 pn

You could book a West end Show (go to the theatre on sat am for 10am and queue for the bestday seats and they then cost about £25 each. Wicked reserve the first 2 rows and only sell on the day-you need to get there as early as poossible as a Sat is very busy ). You could maybe book a tour and cruise with someone like the Original London tour bus company(if you have tesco club card vouchers, this works out quite cheap). You can also upgrade to the choice menu on the day and get lunch for £3 pp. I think you get so much done if you do a tour, as you know hat you are looking at and understand the history. There are many vouchers lurking around like 50% dine in at Pizza Hut (choice London one) £10 off a £20 spend in the Ha Ha bar. £5 off slug n lettuce.

You can either get an off peak travel card to use on all buses and tubes if you are using it to get 2 for 1 entry at attractions (Eg. Tower of London etc) . You must have a valid train ticket for that date and use with the vouchers you print off in advance

If you are not planning to use these deals, you can get an Oyster wihich caps at 50p less then the travelcard a day, but requires a £3 deposit, which you can get back with any credit from some ticket offices and by writing to TFL.. I would also advise you to download and plan your journeys using the London tube map. www.tfl.gov.uk. The Museums eg Naturual History, Science V &A are all free and beside each other (South Kensington Station). The River boat cruise is good IMO and works out cheap if done as part of the tour package and you can get off and explore Greenwich which has a lot of free attractions.

get yourself to Keswick, a lovely little place, free from city life.

Can recommend a good BnB!
