I am thinking of doing a a weekend tour to a few places outside London.

1 day at Longleat safari park, 1 day visiting Stonehenge, Chester ( Roman tour ) and Warwick castle.

Has anyone been to these places ? Are three places doable in a single day ?

Warwick Castle - you'll want at least half a day to check this out. Its pretty big, loads to see and do, bird of prey show is brilliant as is the trebuchet firing. They've got jousting on currently too, but that started 2 days after we visited!

I think all 3 in a day is very ambitious.

Since you live near Chester, is any part of Hadrian's wall in Chester ? Some sites say it is and others say it's in Carlisle.

no chance of doing all 3 in a day unless you start about 3am and get back at midnight ;)

Stonehenge to chester return is an 8 hour drive on its own! oO

Longleat is a whole day out, although you could combine it with Stonehenge (at a push) as they are fairly close.
Warwick needs a whole day as well, esp if you want to watch the Warwick Archer and the sword play. Around 2hrs drive from Longleat/Stonehenge.
Never been to Chester but it is no where near Hadrians Wall - that is close to Carlisle on the Scottish borders. Warwick to Chester would be two hours on a good day, four if the M6 is playing up.

Longleat is a lovely day out, would depend if you have children as to how long you spend there. With children up to about 12 I would say you definitely need a whole day, we often used to go for two days at a time as they used to let you split visiting the different parts of Longleat over different days once you had bought the ticket. Don't forget the queues can be pretty heavy going at this time of year especially for the normal safari and the boat safari. The bat cave is pretty good too.
