One thing to keep in mind is that if you check at John Lewis they offer a 5 year warranty on their tvs. If you find a tv you want at a cheaper price then John Lewis will price match it,they have something on their site about never being undersold. They can be particular who they price match against as you may need to make a few phonecalls like I did back in January. We also bought a Sony Bravia tv and it was £2000 at John Lewis but we found it at Robert Whyte online, they have a shop in Glasgow and they were selling it for £1600 so we got John Lewis to price match and paid £400 less. I'm not sure if they price match against online retailers but they def do actual shops and showrooms. The 5 yr warranty is great too,as some retailers for extended warranty it can ending up running into a few £100 quid for extra warranty depending where you shop.
They're both old models, the newer Sony KDL-40D3000U is much much better.

If you are looking at the older models then the s's beat the u's and the v series are better again. Tbh your best bet with the old models is a spot of haggling, I'd imagine most places will be trying to get rid of the old stock.
would you say that KDL-40S2530 for 694.00 delivered is a good deal? because i have the checkout sitting ready to go :

edit: bought a KDL-40S2510 for 670 delivered
