I am looking for a middle range Android phone for under £200. It's for day to day usage to replace Lumia 650. I like the Lumia but the camera is a bit weak. I am finding there are a few apps I would like missing from the platform and recent updates have removed or broken functionality.

I would prefer not to be tied to a 24 month contact or have to have to import the phone.

A few options I am considering (mixed reviews):

Elephone P9000 - £185 - Amazon

UMI Super - £170 - Amazon

Moto G4 Plus - £185 - Amazon

I would appreciate any feedback on the above or any other suggestions.

Thanks

UPDATE - 7/1

Thank you all for the feedback. Based on comments I have adjusted the list to:

Moto G4 / Plus - £155/£185
Honor 6X - £206 - OOS
Huawei P9 Lite - £201

Currently swaying towards Moto G4 Plus but put off by only 2GB RAM. Might wait a week or two to see if any deals come up.

Don't get the Umi super, I posted a deal for one the other day, received one yesterday and I'm sending it back today.
The specs are great and it's a premium feeling phone, but the screen has a strange shadow going on, the charging port feels loose and disconnects all the time, and within 10mins of using it my Instagram account had been hacked. Coincidence or malware? Not sure but there's no way I'm going to trust logging into my banking apps on it now.
I'll be following this thread though!

HTC m9 very good phone I have had the m7 also nice to use and good camera

Umi super because 16gig rom and 2gig ram is not enough. Might struggle for good cases so look to see what's available. Apps are getting bigger so 16gig rom is to small. 3000mah battery is only just big enough. Uni gets my vote although only had quick look

If you wanna play it safe the honor 6x just released and if I'm correct there was a deal which makes it £206 so just a tad over but a) It's new so should be supported a while and b) it's getting great reviews for a budget phone

I think its worth the extra weeks saving for a used Nexus 6P or similar. Recently got a nice Nexus 6P for £240.
Plenty of used bargains out there, LG G4? HTC One M9? Moto X Style?

For new how about a Le Max 2?

Honor 6X - Pretty good specs, more worried about software etc
Moto G4 - value for money, especially if you can be bothered to wait for Amazon to drop it back down to £130

I bought my student daughter a huawei P9 lite from giff gaff for Christmas. it's got good spec and she loves it. she's especially happy with photo quality and she uses it for everything as she's recently moved into student accommodation social media, Skype, YouTube emails etc. it gets a lot of use. I'm buying over 24 months @ £8 something a month or you can buy for £199 it's not locked to a network and you can get cash back with quidco too. hope this helps. https://www.giffgaff.com/mobile-phones/huawei/huawei-p9-lite/phone-details

Huawei P9 Lite is the only phone you should consider at that price point.

wileyswift are urging people to upgrade to an alternative ROM so that development and upgrades can be applied.
yes Cyanogenmod is no more but it's being dealt with!

a recent post from android police

A recent post to Wileyfox's Facebook pagesheds more light on the company's plan in a post-Cyanogen world. Long story short: there's a maintenance update going out to all Wileyfox phones in the very near future, followed by a Nougat update sometime between February and the end of Q1 2017 (which, for the record, is March). Exactly how they plan to do so, and how much help they'll be getting from what's left of the Cyanogen corporation and/or the now-defunct CyanogenMod developer team, wasn't mentioned.

Huawei P9 lite - the wife has one whilst she is not a high end user - she loves it.
fingerprint scanner is fast. takes a good decent pic & quickly too.

I saw your deal and on review added it to my maybe list. I guess there is some risk of malware with some of the Chinese brands. Thanks for the feedback I'll take UMI off my list.

I was gutted to send it back, it's a whole lot of phone for the money. Soooo fast!

I echo the same, DON'T get the Umi Super. GPS is screwed, a very small minority had working GPS but there was a massive manufacturing issue where they missed some contacts on the internals to get a a solid GPS signal. Plus firmware updates have been coming out for it have fixed some bugs, but then screw up the screen (ghost touches) next update fixes screen but brings a new bug - rinse and repeat! All these issued are on their forums, it's been horrific I'm glad I got a full refund from Banggood!

Disappointed though as the phone was super silky (when working) and battery life was great! Little heavy but spec wise it was awesome. Such a shame

I wouldn't touch the Elephone P9000 either. Awesome spec, especially with NFC which is rare on Chinese and/or budget phones. But Android Pay isn't authorised on that phone despite it having NFC. Plus the phone has been extremely buggy, lots and lots of issues on the development forums. Again a shame, specs and price are great but software and quality control is lacking.

I've ordered the Honor 6x and will be receiving it soon, I can give you a run down of my impressions once I've had a play with it if you want? Though it is slightly over your budget.

BTW the way, whilst I love Xiaomi products (currently using a Redmi Note 3), I would only get one if you know how to really use Android for doing your own updates e.g. flashing ROMs, tweaking things - as you'll GREATLY benefit from it. Plus for a competitive price on Xiaomi products, you'll have to import one BTW.

HTC m9 very good phone I have had the m7 also nice to use and good camera

HTC M9 looks good but can't find it new for less than 235.

Unfortunately only Gold colour in stock. Might wait a while to see it other colours come back in.

Galaxy S5, even cheaper if you get a refurbished as its had its 2 year cycle ( 24 month contracts )

I am not to keen on preowned unless I can easily take it back like CeX. It seems like a bit of a gamble.

Le Max 2 looks really good. Not sure I want to wait the long delivery time and what if there is a problem?

Honor 6X - Pretty good specs, more worried about software etc

Moto G4 - value for money, especially if you can be bothered to wait for Amazon to drop it back down to £130

Unfortunately I was too late to get the £130 G4. Probably would have gone for it. Now that it's £155 I feel that I should pay the extra £30 to get the plus.

oneplus x, seems a good deal.

Galaxy A3

I was hoping for a 1080 screen. Also seems expensive for the specs.

Yeah same, was going to get it for inlaw.

Not sure if the plus is worth it though... according to camel, G4 Plus was £165 on Black Friday :)

But it's up to you of course.

Thanks and going to order one for me as need the bigger display. Anyone suggest similar with 5in display and similar specs?

You made a good choice, its a brilliant phone
For 5" see Xiaomi 3S Global (also with Band 20)

What about the Lenovo Zuk Z2 (£140 for Snapdragon 820, 4gb ram/64gb storage) or Xiaomi Mi5 (£180, Snapdragon 820, 3gb ram, 32gb storage).

Both are essentially flagship specs. Performance wise they'll obliterate that 3S, battery won't be as good, but both have decent batteries (the 3S has a better battery than most phones).

Many thanks for the suggestions really helpful.. The zuk looks good except needs flashing (well some sites say this but wiser people might tell me otherwise). The xiaomi bit over price wise as got to buy two phones so watching the pennies overall

Most Chinese phones need flashing, nature of the game, it's generally just a one off when you first get it, there's always plenty of guides and it generally takes under half an hour, with most the time just waiting for it to flash once you've downloaded a file and clicked a button or two. You're just flashing it from Chinese software to the Indian software with google play, once that's done you'll get regular OTA (over the air) updates like everyone else.

Bit late now, but like a few others I definitely recommend the p9 lite. I got mine back when it was 140 at EE, personally I think it's unmatched at that price although now 140 price is non existent.
As a side note, multi core performance of the huawei p9 lite is better than the nexus 6p, I couldn't see any other phones involved in this thread on geekbench. http://i328.photobucket.com/albums/l348/minsx2002/Screenshot_2017-02-22-00-16-02_zpswhugqgsa.png
